Try a hairdryer, I was able to peel them off easily with nothing then wiping excess off with Goo-Gone.

Ditto on the hair dryer. Will usually leave very little residue if any.
Chemicals (like gasoline) will harm the finish. (goo-gone is okay, but the less used the better).
