my blast has been riding great lately, but then all of the sudden, the exhaust sounded a heck of a lot louder - almost like a lawnmower. I looked around and saw that most of the exhaust was coming from where the pipe connects to the engine, and the silver bracket that holds it in place was missing a nut and it was loose. I stripped off the other nut to take a look and i don't know if there's a problem with it or not, but it seems at the end of the pipe, there's a chunk missing? here's a video, hopefully it'll give you a better look at what i'm talking about.

Maybe uneven tightening of the header - or one side loose the other tight - don't even know if a welder can fix that - totally bizarre.

i picked up another nut so i'm going to try putting the plate back in place. i was just curious if there was some sort of seal or something between the pipe and where it gets mounted in

There is a soft lead mesh exhaust O-ring that fits into the exhaust port to seal up the exhaust.

i hooked it all back up and the exhaust isn't coming out the end of the pipe - if i stick my hand where the pipe connects to the bike, i can feel it all coming out there. i might just drive it over to my hd dealership and have them look at it.

It is an easy and inexpensive repair.

Remove exhaust, pick out the old gasket, install the new gasket($2.50) reinstall the exhaust.
