I have been reading the forums for a couple of days and am a bit confused by the talk of adjusting the primary. In one context, it seems to refer to adjusting the belt/chain using a in-pound torque wrench. In another area, I have read about a gasket wrench and other parts being needed. Are there 2 different parts of the bike called "primary"? Thanks.

So that is the chain/belt bolt and nut that gets torqued and then backed out? Where the spacer was before the first service?

Thanks!

No belt. Just chain.

Adjust it looser! LOL

Too tight will cause lots of problems, from hard shifting to premature tensioner wear, robbing horsepower and causing hard starting and running so read up on how to do it. It is not that hard to do, I personally preferr the "By ear" method.

Salient point number 1:
Not very much wear takes place on the primary chain of a 30 hp bike, so adjusting it too much will only cause problems.
