I have a noise I'm trying to track down when ridding.

It's hard to describe, but I'm betting I could replicate it with a couple small washers zip tied together near the horn or gear shift.

I hear it at 3/4 throttle, and when hitting medium sized bumps.

Any ideas as what to check?

The bolts that hold the "DO NOT REMOVE" bracket to the head.

The front isolator.

So I should stop by HD today on the way home then? They changed out the front isolator last Saturday.

It's actually been riding really well and sounding really good with the exception of this noise.

Oh, now thats a different story.....

If they did it maybe they put something on in the wrong place, just look around first maybe it is something you can diagnose. Maybe with the bike running, roll the throttle on and listen through the RPM range to where it starts rattling and then look around or touch the non-hot things looking to see if the noise goes away when you touch it.

I have been trying to figure this one out, because it's the only thing still bothering with me with this bike.

I had it in the garage for an hour trying to reproduce this noise. Got no where, but the second I get on the road it's back. I thought maybe it's because the shocks were loaded, so I sat on the bike revving it trying to get it to reproduce, nothing.

It only does it on the road in some RPM ranges and when hitting big bump. So I know it's something loose... somewhere.

Pegs or brake mountings - rattling.

It could be the pegs maybe. They were making a hell of a racket when warming up but I thought this sound would be subdued by the weight of my feet once on the bike. It could be the back ones but if memory serves they are nice and tight when folded up.

As far as break mountings I had not checked that. What are you referring to specifically. I know the rotor and calipers are nice and tight.

Other than that noise, is the "feeling" that the the engine just sounds and feels loose. It reminds me of the feeling I got from so many of my first cars... like it could explode under it's own pressure at any minute.

Basically it sounds fluttery at mid to high RPMs. Is it just mine or do none of these bikes ever have a tight solid sound?

Just a thought--check your pulley screws for tightness.

The rear sprocket?

All those parts or new but I'll check them at the lowest torque setting in case they didn't loctite or torque them correctly.

The cotter pin on the brake pedal and pedal hardware rattle - I know mine do - probably from lack of usage.

I said that because I recently had new bearings and a new tire installed. I didn't do my usual of checking it frequently for a while after letting someone else do something to it. My belt has been noisy as heck, and then I noticed a wobble under power. I looked at the pulley, and the screws were loose.
