I bought a 'new' Blast and got my endorsement today. It is a Black 2007, 445 miles (from Riders Edge). I picked it up for $3000. Small scuff on R brake lever end, and a small scuff on fairing just where the blast sticker is (I want to remove the sticker anyways). Not being the first to drop my brand new bike will take a little pressure off me! It has my favorite tank logo on it, Buell American Motorcycles. I have been waiting for this for quite sometime. Will my detailed Buell story on another post.

So on the way home I stopped at my friends house to show off. (I know you all did it too!) As we are going over the bike we notice something dripping from the Airbox/Carb Cover. It was a coffee colored foam, that smelt and looked like some kind of lubricant. I am guessing oil. I am guessing this is BAD. Didn't have time to call the dealer as I had to get to work and show off some more. (I could get used to the attention!) My father (panhead owner) mentioned something about 'blowback' when I called him. Upon taking the cover off we noticed it was most prevelant on the tube end next to the Carb. Any ideas on the severity/problem? Thanks in advance, I look forward to getting to know you guys/gals as I am begin my adventure with a Blast!

Welcome to the Thumper Forum Thump!

What you are experiencing is the crankcase blowby, which is normal. For EPA regulations they place the outlet in the airbox so the engine can try and reburn the blowby gases(In my opinion, not a great idea) So what Blasters have been doing is routing the hose to the atmosphere somewhere besides the airbox. That helps keep your engine cleaner outside and inside.

I've seen the same in old cars, except there's a sponge there, and oil collects in a reservior that never seems to fill up. It's just a PCV thing. You wouldn't understand.
