EZ, Thanks for the link, I actually found a local outfit that can get them (in 2 days no less!) and they are only about 10 buck more per tire after mounting and tax! Damn I should have started my search local... live and learn. Anyways by mid next week I should have new tires and be back on the road! Well that's assuming it gets out of the Harley shop first, they are taking their sweet time w/ it... Grrr... Oh well. Thanks again EZ and sorry to see you gone from that 'other' list, you knocking heads w/ the 'boss' was about the only fun thing going on over there. :)

V twin, was there a specific reason for the kendas? Was it price, or do you find something better with them?

Kendas are wider. 140/70x16 (rear) and fit the blast without modifications.

Hd58, Gearhead is dead on, I wanted the wider profile without going to a taller wheel or modifying the bike. Kenda is the only option that I know of to get that. By way of update if all goes well I should be riding on my new set of kenda's this wednessday! I can't wait!

Just for GP - Kenda has a front at 110/70-16 to go with the rear 140/70-16
For those like my self who only like riding matching sets - will be testing them out myself in a few months with Red Maul - lol - look promising from reports so far and I do have two bikes - after this next set of Pirellis wear out I may try the Maxxi v rated on the Black Vader - if I don't like em -Pirellis are cheap enough to switch back to - lol - Got Thump?! Yup EZ, I too like a matched set. Finding the rear wasn't too hard but for some reason finding someone that actually had the front was a bitch . In the end I did find both, just a few more days now....

Hopefully in the future they will become more common.

Ordered a White Brother E series today, 12 extra discs and the longer bolts - the Willeyco was a no show! They said try one of their Euro vendors - I say try American - lol - so I went down to Cycle Gear here in SF and ordered up everything I'd need to give my Nallin motor a Maximum breathing tool - already running the stack - might as well get an exhaust to match the potential and see where I lay - the Red will get the Bub which has lasted very well and only had to be repainted a few times by me - lol - no cracks and as loud as hell - a great drag pipe for low and mid - but I should see an extra pony or two with the WB and preserve a lot of the low end torque with the extra discs - lol - thats the hope - Fun! fun! Fun!

What's next EZ, a chrome frame???

Seriously though, I just installed a pro series exhaust and intake this weekend and rejetted to 45/175. I'm real happy with the results. The bike is loud but not unbearable, and it makes quite a bit more power EVERYWHERE!!! If only I could get caught up at work and finish up those rearsets I'd be stoked.

Chrome???? - I wash the bikes once a week and still get em dirty enough - none of my bikes look shiny new - worn but cared for would be the apt description for either - a different look - yes - show bikes - no - I'd rather ride;0) - You got me mistaken for a Harley rider - lol - yeah it would be nice to see how they turn out - just always curious - Got Thump?! So, Ez's gonna spin the wheel of destiny & try a WB.Hopefully you will have better luck than me. However, I think you're really looking for an excuse to try that Supertrapp muffler!! Too bad on the Willeyco.
Oh, & the Pirelli's coming up on 2500 miles (bald) so I'm itching to try the Kendas too!

Made it to the Wilson Ranch, great looking and sounding bikes abound. Getting around to "Saltaway" the vehicles this morning. Off to the salt on Wednesday. Things are looking good so far. I'll try to post during the time on the salt, but will hold off on posting pics until I get home on a standard connection.

Hey James! - Hows the rearset project comming? Being an LA area guy - I'm suprised it hasn't happened to you - lol - they left me my cap - upside down - another thing - Vader sits while I wait for a 155 main to come in (have to compensate for the Dial A Jet which was installed after my last dyno) - fouled a plug from here to Sac. and back - too rich! - will put her on a dyno when the WB shows and the jetting is done! The Red could sure use those rearsets - I've rough beveled the pegs to the metal - still - having lots of fun!

Hey EZ, I just got my blast back from the shop, replacing all the fluids w/ synth was a major improvement! (just sharing, you all know that already). I have a question that I could probably find here but got a little twisted trying to find. I've got a V&H (I know not the best but I didn't know what I was doing back then), rejetted, K&N and hi-pro plug on the blast. The next and 'last' step for me would probably be a hotter cam (maybe better to say a warmer cam). What would be the hottest cam I could just drop in and do you think it would be worth doing?

Thanks for you time man.

Stuart,

How about the intake? IMHO, The Pro-Series is worth the $$.

Cams: Buell Pro-Series or Andrews B50, drop right in, they are the same cam.

James,

At the risk of showing my ignorance, here's my thoughts:

On the Pro-Series, I've read that a K&N w/ airbox mods gets you 90% to 95% of max breathing. If that's true then it's hard to justify the Pro-Series intake (although it looks really nice). Also I'd have to come up w/ a carb support and I'm not really good at that sort of thing.

As for the Buell cams I've read that they aren't really that much hotter and probably aren't worth the time/money. If that is so then I'd like to know what is worth the time/money but doesn't require other engine mods. Maybe there is no such beast.

I could be totally wrong on both counts, so please enlighten me if I am!

Thanks

Concur with James - those cams are plug and play, if you don't mind a little top end dis-assembly - since you'll be diving into the lower end anyway for the cams, get some heavy duty springs and valve guides from Nallin, and install the XB cam, you have to relocate the hole in the timing cup - (that is covered in the 515cc big bore section of the Blast KV) - but those are almost plug and play and will give even better results than the other cams mentioned. Do the air box mod with that K&N for a lot better breathing, later maybe a Screaming Eagle Ignition set to 7100 to 7300 rpms - if you do the XB set up - 6800 rpms for the others and no head mods.
I'd wait on the Pro series intake untill they - HD - create a suport system or better intake boot. The air box mod is just as good and you don't have to worry about your carb going south while you go north type of thing.

Hope this helps!

Stuart (VT66),

Other than the Pro-Series/B50 the rest will require top end work. I personally think that they are a good cam, and the best you can do for just drop in. However, you can have better for marginally more $$ if you are willing to do the head work. If it was me, and I could live with the down-time, I'd have the head re-done (springs, oversize valves, porting...) before I bought the cams if I had to choose one or the other.

As far as the pro series intake, I guess if you allready spent ~$60 on the K&N it's hard to justify. I didn't have the K&N, so it was a no-brainer. Right now I'm tempting the fates without a support, hopefully it lasts, but I have my old intake boot lying around just in case.

First my view on the B50/Pro Series - a very noticable inprovement - if the bike had come stock with these there would have been a much longer interval on the bikes before trade in because of the definate upped fun factor - every thing is much more immediate - very gratifying! I can only immagine the awesome response the XB cams will generate in the engine! Looking foward to it in the future!
Granted - springs and guides are top end work (and I'd replace anything that looks dicey) - but no where in the league of actually taking the head off and doing the full Nallin deal - I'm still talking plug and play here with just a little more wrenching involved - lol - so whispers the Dark side - lol - maybe an hours work for you James and 8 extra for me ;0)- (longer if I take the weekend - lol) - still though you have to get a little creative with the timing cup (I figure JB weld the old hole and match and drill the new hole) - but this is something I could think about doing myself - lol - just more wrenching;0)

The timing cup slot must be filled with a magnetic substance, otherwise the ignition still see's the slot. Local speed shop welded up and ground smooth for $20.00
