dibs on the rearsets when u trade it in again

Nope, This time it will belong to the wife. I'm hoping she gets "Maggie" with it.

We're doing the Catskills/NYC trip this summer 2-up on the S3, but I told her that before we do the big Western Loop though the Blackhills/Yellowstone/Cascades/Glacier/Olympic/Co ast Highway/Redwoods/Rockies trip that she has to ride her own bike so we have room to pack the tent sleeping bags etc...

i have a 2006 p-3 with vance and hines exhaust. i started having this problem saturday, i was riding at about 75-85mph then the engine made a low pop then wanted to die like it was in a higher gear.
i can turn it on and let it idle in neutral but i pull the throttle with out some clutch it'll just putt out. if i put in gear, same thing. i put a new spark plug, check all wires, boot, inspected the outside of the carb. everything seems good. old spark plug had no carbon.
i'am stumped, any particular places i should look?

when i removed the gas tank and inspected it it seemed fine. how ever a day or so before i had noticed the boot was not connected to the manifold. i noticed no difference in the ride so it must have just happened.
i will go buy a boot because of the price but anyother suggestions?

Do the boot first - that may well be the cause of the problem - anything else right now would only mask the problem.

Cruise up to the Knowledge Vault, go to Engines, then Intake/Carb (going by memory) and read all the stuff there. It's a wealth of information, and something there should help you.

Are you saying that with the clutch released it won't take any throttle? But with the clutch pulled in it will? And if you put it in gear it will stall?

A while back, I looked at what it would cost to rent an engine hoist to change the engine in my Jeep. I knew I'd need it on at least 3 different days. Turns out I can buy one for about the same price as 3 days of rental. My wife thought we'd never need it again, but it makes an excellent motorcycle hoist.

some of you may remember i was having a problem with my 2006 buell blast.
so yesterday i tore down the bike. removed the carb. and noticed somthing doing its job.

look at the diagram. theres a pin(#28) that is used to lift a plastic lifter peice(#24)that connects to the spring(#26) in the carb. on the pin, if you look carfully you'll see a circle clip that goes inbetween the pump and the plastic lifter for the spring, it pushes the springup and lets the spring push down.
snapped in half it was. took it to harley got a new one free. had to run motor for like 10 minutes after assembly and every car alarm on my street sang in a choir like hamony.

screw hot rods, im sticking to bike now. a job like that on a 750 holley double pumper with dual 50cc pumpswould have tooken all night if not two.

I hadn't heard of that one before. Cool! Nice job fixing it yourself...

Is that little pin jobber part of the auto-enrichener mechanism? I'm still a carb noob... Those things are black-magic as far as I'm concerned and I'm a little afraid to monkey with `em... Haven't had to as of yet.

The way he describes it, it looks like it is the needle. If throttle opens, but the needle doesn't come up, the symptoms fit perfectly.

Well, I did it. I bought a Buell P3 Blast. I pick it up tonight. I'll type up a details entry after I've got it in my garage and have ridden it a bit more than my in-town test ride.

About me: I've been riding since '86 and have owned or tested a variety of bikes in the 22 seasons. My last bike was a Kaw. KLR 650 dual-sport. Great bike, but I didn't have use for the offroad capabilities. I rode this bike for 7 years, and really grew to enjoy "thumpers". I looked around and couldn't find too many street singles that weren't 20 years old. I didn't care for the S-40 (Savage), either.

I'll post a bit more once I've put some miles and some accessories on the bike. First order was for a tank bag; second will be for handguards -hard to give those up from the KLR. I look forward to doing some travelling this summer and hope to make a FSSNOC (Google them) rally either this summer or next.

Thanks so far for the great info. I've got a parts list for the OEM handguard install from the FAQ's and also know where to pickup better priced (and better quality) oil filters that will fit.

OK fellow Blastards, I'm considering a long-distance ride from my virginia home to my parents in Lansing Michigan, Swampy's territory. I have no bags or stuff for touring as all of my rides are within a few hundred miles or in town. I took long trips on the Gold Wing years back, but it's long gone. Long story.

Anyone here tour on your Blasts? Any recommendations on equipment? Anyone between Charlottesville Va and Lansing Mi who might play host to a fellow Blaster in return for a brew and maybe a little Virginia woods water?

Rainman,
When you get here I will show you....LOL

I use a back pack on the fuel tank turned backwards with one short strap at the front around the steering head and then a couple of straps across the back, just below the seat on the frame.
When are you coming this way?

At this point, probably in the last week of June. With gas costs, I think the Blast makes more sense than even the Corolla. OK, it's an excuse. I have to teach a couple of MSF courses to get up the money...

If things don't work out (work is very, very goofy as of late) and I have to drive instead of ride, I'll look you up anyway.

I have toured on my blast...I would recommend a more comfortable seat or at least an Alaskan Leather Sheepskin pad(a$$ saver). As for Baggage Chase Harper Stealth saddlebags, Chase Harper 800 Sport Trek Tank Bag, and an Aerostitch medium Dry Duffle bag
