Hi all,

I have Buell Blast 2005 and Speedometer is keep showing d01CLR code,
how can I reset it?

If I turn the bike ignition from OFF to ON the speedometer will go
through self diagnostic from d01CLR to d10CLR and PPU then back to
d01CLR. It is happening every time when I turn the bike on.

All I want see is actual mileage on the speedometer.

Thank you, in advance for your advice.

Sorry guys, but I'm not sure where to post this: I need a parts catalog for a 2000 Blast. Anyone have any links to one, or a place for me to order one??? Was involved in an accident and I need to find out the specific cost of each part. Any help would be appreciated because the jerk that caused the accident didn't have any insurance

My wife was wondering why I was sitting on the internet all day....

I got back from the Tunnel of Trees with the Little Kid, just a short two day ride, and now I'm tired. I had some friends visit from the UP and the highlight of their trip was making a pilgrimage to the Tool Mecca, Harbor Freight.

It was kind of funny seeing them walk around the store, as they speak with a heavy Finnish accent, and they are hard to understand amongst us nasal voiced flatlanders.

Hello,
We are looking at a new Blast for my wife and we are a little concerned about what to expect the power to be. She has an XL1200L now that she only put 30 miles on...before that she had a Honda 750 Magna and an 883 Hugger. She is just tired of tall and/or heavy bikes...500-600 lbs. Do you think it's safe to assume the the Blast will run at least close to the 883?...I mean factoring in the horsepower to weight ratio and all. She is also looking at the Suzuki GS500F and the Yamaha FZ6. Also, does the Blast handle the 515 cylinder well or do hop ups tax other parts of the engine making it unreliable? Thanks.

Matadormkv, Welcome! Yes, the Blast will run with the 883's. Many riders will tell you from their own experience, myself included. I toured on my Blast with a friend who rode my Electra-Glide. There was never a problem for me, although some of the mountain roads were far more fun for me than for him!

I never did any mods on mine and it was just fine. 492cc to 515cc is not worth the time and expense, imho.

Good luck!

the 515 kit is good for gas mileage, and performance and stresses nothing except you have to lower your main jetting to 155/160 area.

For ease of operation, just go with a pipe and rejet the carb to make it run better. Get her a new set of handle bars, maybe rearsets, and as soon as the rear tire wears out put the bigger sized Avons on it. Last year I rode the Blasts more than I did my Sportster, they are just plain more fun. And yes they will run with the big dogs.

The Blast piston is an off the shelf Sportster unit with enough compatibilities to work with the Blast head lowering the compression to an reliable 9.2 - the hi comp 10.5 piston was actually designed for the Blast head - making it more fuel efficient despite the higher compression.

Not designed for the Blast head - may or may not have compatibility issues - I have heard that it wouldn't work - but I know of no one who's tried it - to see if there actually are clearance issues.

The Tubers? An even more interesting question - would that work with either an XB - probably not - clearance issues? or Blast piston - since the Blast piston is a Sporster stock item and the Lightning Tuber head is considered a Sportster up-graid part - perhaps it would, but would'nt you also go for either the 10.5 to 11.0 comp Sportster pistons to complement them instead of the Blast piston. However it was also said by the Hoban Brothers that on their flo bench the Blast head stock flowed better than either of the stock XB or stock Lightning heads - I wish I could have been there to ask more questions on that, but I wasn't - wasn't the Blast piston originally a 10 to 1 Sporster piston - if I recall correctly - could be wrong - still when added to the Blast head - compression was dropped - that is a written fact. - Results for such a mix - was seen in the Battle to Win Buell mags - that yellow bike was running a lightning head - wasn't it?

515 kit....hi-comp piston...515kit....hi-comp piston....still can't figure out which to do. I know I have to replace the gasket between the jug and the case and I'll be damned if I'm not gonna do something when I get in that deep but I still haven't decided which

Is not the Thunderstorm head also considered a Sportster upgrade - aka - it will work with sportster piston on a Sportster as well as a Buell - that is the answer -

Hey - if I'm wrong correct me - I know that the Blast piston is a Sportster unit - and I know you know your twins - so perhapsI'm missing something - although Erik B. said tubers where modified Sportster motors which is why those mods found their way onto Sportsters and that the Blast motor - though built exclusively for Buell used some Sportster components to cut cost - the piston/cyl., etc. And I've read of both a Thunderstorm and a Lightning head adapted to a Blast - both on the Battle to Win mags - you can see in free pdf version on the Buell UK Forum sight. See their download section.

Maybe the XB head has different springs for the different cam lift and duration?

EZ Doesn't a hi-comp piston create more power per given fuel charge making it naturally more efficient, thus get better mileage as well?
