Trips to Colorado are cheep - bus if you have to - and a Buell supported Nallinized Blast would be the ultimate Blast to start your Blasting with - talk about increased learning curve! - lol - Too Sweet! Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ

(OK - I'm back! Howed the tuning session with the High Country Nallinized Blast go? - Moderator - lol)

I'll be posting measurements and specifics this weekend! So stay tuned! Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ

OK - who's done a battle trax before - any tips for improving time? Even with a bumb knee I plan to give it a shot on May 24th here in the Bay area - San Carlos - With the amount of darksiders on this board I figure someone has done them before - I could be wrong - lol - still just curious! EZ,

I never done a battle trax, but I think that a few basic principles I learned a long time ago would work. And hell, When have I ever not voiced an opinion.

My thoughts would have to start with the word 'smooth'. Any abrupt moves or over aggressive throttle action can only spell disaster. These actions will only make you fight the suspension instead of making it work for you, and keeping the tires in full contact with the surface (no sliding or wheel spin) will make for consistency. Pucker factor is never good.

My next thought would have to do with cornering technique, which is what I understand is the predominant feature of these courses. The technique that I have found to work is usually entering high, go through low and exit high. Sometimes the opposite is true but not often in my experience.

The last thing would be throttle control. This starts with finding a gear that gives adequate power through the turn without breaking the rear tire loose. Then entering the turn easy on the throttle or gently powering down with gentle application of brakes. Then once past the apex of the turn powering out which will not only give you necessary speed but help to obtain control of the bike out of the turn.

Don't know if this will help, but like I said everyone has an opinion.

Ray

P.S. What no comments on my new lid (pic in previous post) I thought you would appreciate its "Dark Side"

oh yeah and what is a blast in regards to bad weather.

I bet if we put our heads together we would come up w/ something a bit more micro-aggressive.

Buell P-3 Surge
Buell P-3 Microburst
Buell P-3 Tempest
Buell P-3 Firestorm
Buell P-3 Doppler (lol)

etc... I'm fond of Firestorm as a Firestorm can easily build up in intensity and get bigger and stronger. A blast is just a quick wind that comes and goes.

The FSM cover makes it seem like blast! is a volcano eruption.

Tempest is a cool name.
Does anyone know what P1 and P2 were?

Ray, I'm digging your helmet, is that a factory paint job?

James,

Sure is, when I went in to the shop my intention was to get a grey or silver one to match my leathers, but the dragons just called out to me.

Kyuss,

Black Superbike Handlebars
#311-0511 = $11.99
Black Drag Handlebars
#311-0501 = $8.99

Their site is hard to navigate, at least I've found that to get to some of their products you have to really work at it. The first set is what I put on my Blast, prior to the clip-ons.

thanks, Kyuss

http://www.specii.com/clips.html

this would be your ideal set up - you can bring them as high as supperbike bars or lower than clubmen with just a couple of adjustments - ride comfortable during the week and adjust down and foward for weekend corner carving! and now they come in all - black! Kyuss,

I got mine on EBAY they where Pro-Flo's. They work well for LSR, haven't decided for street use yet. That is to be determined. The best for street has been the superbikes from chapparal.

True Ray I know of several straight clip-ons that would cost anywhere from 20 to 60 less, however, they do not have this adjustability - imagine no more bar swapping - just adjust down for cornercarving and back up for the leasurely ride home - lol - BlastVader has the set like Blake has, however ole BlastInsideous will be sporting this newer version - all Black! - Bars are like coats - a definite personal choice - heck some people even like the stock ones - (however, you may want to keep your barmounts on - running a bar across the middle to mount a small tach,;0)) -go figure - lol

EZ,

Those sound great, but present situation has some crunch on cash flow. The ones that you present sound real good and will consider after I go to Bonneville. I was only stating where I got mine. The ones you propose are superior, where the hell were you 6 months ago.

I have the racer's which are a bit cheaper and only have one adjustment not two like the Profi's but they are awesome and would also recommend these guys for ordering them as they had by far the best price

Well, I spoke with the service department at Bumpus H-D/Buell and my new motor has arrived. They hope to have it replaced and ready to go by the weekend. Weather sucks right now around here, so I'm not really sweating it.

However, I've only had the thing since December and it's spent about a month total in the shop with them trying to diagnose this problem. I just want the thing back in my garage!

And now I gotta go thru another 500 mile break-in.

Using the older version - I discovered them in an old posting over in the kv section by Blake - already had the vendor - after Blake's recom. - got them thru WildHair, these guys are the mfg. - SPEC II - though and so they are less here $ and the have the two updates - the larger spacers and the total Black color option - so whoever beats me to these will actually have paid less than I did for the origionals - still no complaint - the origionals - for me - have been the best compromise between full on clip-ons and sportbike - without ever having to adjust

Anymore talk or rumors that there could be a Fuel Injected P3 or P3 replacement for 2004?. Imagine, no more jetting ordeals. All we would need is a Power Commander under the seat :) Maybe it's just wishful thinking. That and a new intermediate machine would be nice :)

Hey St0rm-

You've got a way to go before you catch up to me! I had to break my first Blast in 4 times in 3500 miles.

Lesson learned? Above all, stay cool and level. Insist on what you deserve but be a gentleman about it. Also, buy, read, and use the service manual. NOBODY will care for your bike as you will.

Do the aftermarket/Buell cams come color coded like the originals or are they one size fits all?

I was wondering about those cams...I went away for a few months and Bam!!! Buell finally does some performance upgrades for the blast...I still think I'm just gonna send my engine to Brian when I pull it out of storage...why half a$$ things when you can do it all in one shot...correctly.

Hey Xgecko! You back from your oversees tour - Japan? Great to see a Blast pioneer back in the game (out from lurk mode!).

I thought the stock ones were color coded because they also go in the 1200cc sporster - rear cylinder if I remember correctly. The Andrew b - 50 set was tagged not colorcoded, don't know about the Factory hi-po version - lol

Factory cams are color coded for size to cut down on valvetrain slop/noise.

I always thought that the color coding was for front vs. back and that cam specifics were designated by bike and year and motor - lol - thanks - would that 550 cam I've been reading about on another part of this board be adaptable to the Blast then? Hmmm - just wondering -
