No way would I pay that much for a bike in that condition. I wouldn't pay more than $500. You are looking at about a grand in repairs after the labor with having a shop do the work. Keep looking and you'll find a low mileage problem free blast for two grand or so I'm sure. Keep an eye on ebay and craigslist. There are often good deals there check your local dealer for riders edge bikes

LOL - FUBAR! - My red bike had 10 owners before me and every newbe caused problem because of it and others besides - and it would still be a better choice than a RE bike!

yeah riders edge bikes can be troublesome, but still a better choice than the aforementioned one. Rider's Edge is a program by Harley Davidson that gets beginners riding in a controlled environment. HD uses the Blast as the bike of choice in said program and eventually retires the Rider's Edge bikes and sells them relatively cheap. Also, when getting a used blast, the most trouble free years are 2003 and newer as some fixes were done to prevent failures. you can read about them in various places. Your best bet to get a blast cheap is to find one private party used to learn on and then selling because they are moving to a bigger bike. I believe that to be the case on mine (aside from the private party thing) as mine only had 2600 miles on it and was showroom new with the only addition being a Vance and Hines exhaust. If you are wanting to get a blast soon and can't find one private party, go to your local dealer and let them know what you will spend and what you want and they will find it. Good hunting!

it's a motorcycle learning school sponcered by harley i believe M4 .

paid 1,200 for my 2001 that needed almost nothing . it was a end of season private sale but still . the nice thing when you're buying a used buell specially a blast is the first owner took the big hit because of the buells resale value . keep shopping .

I've been toying with the idea of selling mine. It's an 01 with just under 1,000 miles on it. Replaced the rocker box gasket, other than that its been trouble free. email me at gearehead@hotmail.com if you want to know more about it.

Thats cool - none of that work is hard, however, an extra hand could be useful in doing the forks.

I had an 02 Blast that was in perfect condition, 13500 miles on it with lots of goodies. Race kit, saddle bags, cool decals and racing stripes. Sold it for $1800.00 Probably could have gotten more for it. I actually should have kept it. I kick myself sometimes now about that. Oh well. I would look on craigslist. There are a lot of bikes for sale there. You can find some real deals.
