I apologize first off that i couldn't compile this info from searching, trust me i tried. And second off, Hi, i'm new. We bought my wife a blast a month or so ago. I am a big buell fan myself and it was one of the few bikes i felt comfortable putting my 5'2" 103lbs wife on to learn to ride. She has seemed to enjoy it throughly, and other than my sometimes foolish mechanical ability the bike has been great. We bought it for 1200 bucks and we both feel we got a great deal. ANyhow on to the question. I'm not crazy about the lawnmower sound and i could stand a bit more power from her bike when riding together. Assuming we want to spend less than 1000 bucks, and do so in only about $4-$500 dollar stages what can/must i do to remedy this situation.

Some disclaimers, I know lots about F/I and NOTHING about carbs. so keep it dumbed down for me please. : )

1) Exhaust & jetting - see exhaust section and carb section
2) Intake - see carb section
3) Cam & springs, guides and seals, and high comp. piston 10.5 - see 515cc kit in engine section
4) Enjoy!

Exhaust Jetting and intake can be done for less than $300 depending on the intake (its easy work that a monkey can do). Cam and a piston are $350 and while both are relatively straight forward I personally would rather have a dealer do that work (YMMV). Springs Guides and Seals don't add up to the remaining $350 so yes if you can do the labor (I'm not up to setting the timing on a cam) it can all be done for less than $1000. And yes rejet when you change the exhaust/intake

Welcome to the board Jackelfox!

Putting cams in the engine is no problem, the rocker box has to come off first so there is no tension on the cam followers. When you are in there it is a great idea to get the "High Performance" oil pump drive gear, and to install that you need the crankshaft locking tool available from any of our HD/Buell dealer sponsers or from American Sport Bike, also one of our sponsers.

But first question I have is.......
Where did youi find a Blast for $1200?
