Rigid frame=buzz box. It is Thors Hammer (original Blast name-Thor). Don’t plan on this being a low rpm Harley engine. Plan on running it to redline often.

I don't know where this will wind up, so here:

The SO has a Buell Blast, but something is amiss in the electrical system, sometimes it just dies. When this happens the entire bike seems to go to sleep with the engine. I have checked the battery by replacing it with the one from my Blast, checked all the ground connections, checked as much as I can electrical 12 volt distribution. The bike will go along fine then just die. Cycling the side-stand up and seems to get it going again. I have a spare side-stand switch, I will install it today, but I thought that only effected the ignition, in my case everything seems to go dark.

Anyone had this issue? If so it will help me save some time troubleshooting time.

Thanks!

Bad ignitions - common on 2003 and earlier.

I need all your help—I need my motorcycle back on the road ASAP. I’m stuck at re-indexing my Daytona Twin Tech timing rotor for my 515cc build.... can anyone/everyone help?

Everything you need should be right there. Some of it will be a leap of faith, some of it you’ll understand. Having all the parts side by side can help you see the differences and similarities.
If you’re just using a single notch rotor it should be simple. If you’re using double notch rotor (twin rotor) then it’s only a little more complicated.
Tips: you don’t have to immediately renotch the timing cup. You can blank out the original notch and then place it on the camshaft to put it in different positions to help you work it out.

I was just curious if the Blast acceleration could or would be improved by any of the ECU modules that advertise improved performance. I use my 2005 more than my other bike, mostly because its a good, nimble commuter in my 1/2 trip to work.

Yes. The modules that fit under the points cover are easiest to adapt to the Blast. Screaming’Eagle made one specifically for the Blast, but they have long been discontinued and were somewhat unreliable (ie: if you find one, don’t pay a lot for it as it may not work).
If you can swap the valves springs out, then you can take advantage of upping the rev limit to 7500rpms.

It all depends on how far and how much $$ you want to spend.

These can be found cheap, brand new.

Check BRO (Buell Riders Online) as they probably have a more up to date selection as to what’s currently available. There’s lots that can be fitted and just about anything Harley /Buell can be made to work as long as you’re capable at schematic reading and wiring. It’s all very simple and basic really. (But that’s easy for me to say as I’ve already wired a bunch of different ignitions up!). But it is very basic in principle-once you know that, it’s easy.

What’s the problem?

NAPA would have been the one place with a large selection of O rings, I would have thought.
Hmmm. A specialty Hardware are shop like “McFadden-Dale” might have a selection.

https://www.theoringstore.com/store/

If you measure it out, you can find o-rings in any size, in many different materials, and for much lower cost than anywhere else. I've been buying all my o-rings from this outfit. They ship promptly and have very low minimum orders at prices that you usually see for 10,000 unit minimums

blast bracket

is this bracket supposed to be for something? I'm thinking of adding a sissy bar and I'm wondering if these 4 holes are for such thing or possibly for luggage or saddlebags? anyone know?

Aren't those holes the same size needed for putting in more of the rubber plugs used on the fender & belt cover? That would be a low strain mounting, the tabs are not strong enough to hang a lot of weight off of

I would think there might have been an under fairing in mind

I've been studying those brackets & pondering what their best use could have been. Bottom of the seat does seem a bit like one of the 'inside areas' on the bike

The swing-arm mounted fender is clearly designed to keep muck from clogging the voltage regulators cooling fins, so I'm certain there were other ideas being debated for controlling the environment on the underside of everything

On the other hand, if the tabs were for something that later was cancelled, then why continue welding the tabs on? My Blast is an '05 and has them

Hey guys,
Thought I'd share with you all, "my" local Harley Davidson dealer is closing down. They are selling the paint off the walls. Of all the old, interesting, cool, vintage stuff that has surfaced, one is a NEW Buell Blast. It has been sitting in the Riders Edge classroom upstairs for years. They brought it down last week, run it trough the shop, and it is looking for a home... if anyone is interested.

No concern, just have the bike completely apart, have a extra 883 clutch just was wondering if it was worth swapping it.
