What about a "PRODUCT IMPROVED" OEM muffler
that gives basicly the same performance as a BIG $$$.$$ aftermarket one and you never have to re-pack "IT" ???

I wouldnt call $50 "high dollar". And The first test run presented a major power loss. So, maybe good power is a lil tune away. The current tune is exactly what is recommended on this site: 45/175, shimmed, 2 3/4 turns out.... I did notice the baffle that holds the packing (which almost completely blew out the first rev) is only 1" in diameter! Can you say bye bye mister baffle?

Damn it was loud today. But it made me giggle alil.

Its odd though. I expected a loss of torque but a gain in high rpm power. I kept the torque but it falls flat on its face from mid rpm's up. Well, just doesnt pull as hard as before. And the idle is slightly higher, due to less restriction, at least at low rmp's.

I may try 48/180's this weekend.

yup change the needle and shim it (or at least shim the needle you have)....I didn't fall into the perfect (for me) jetting of 47/175 and a shimmed Jet Needle (PN 27241-95) until about 10,000 miles ago (I just rolled over 24500 miles) the needle was a more noticeable change than the jetting smoothing out the same (for me) hesitation in the midrange

I shimmed it already. If I remember right it was 2 brass washers? Maybe three, whatever was recommended in the carb section.

I was goofing around on the way home with a chick from work, as we headed for an on ramp I went to pass her but it acted fuel starved just before the rev limiter.

So to save face,I just blew her a kiss and got behind her again.

Update....I pulled my muffler off today because i couldnt remember how narrow the baffle was. Well, it turned out to be less than 1"!!! And all the packing was GONE.

I gave it a test run without the baffle and wow what a difference. That thing was a huge restriction. And it wasnt much louder without it.

I still think theres more power somewhere in the higher rpm area that more spark or jets might find but at least I found the highest power added yet.
