The really cool thing about Timbuk2 bags is the custom build ability. My first I had for 8 years, my present one I've had for 2. Unless you are really small get their biggest bag you will find a use for the space and it rides better on your body. | ||

Blake, Do you have the Ventura system? I've been considering it for the last month (since I bought the Blast), but it costs over $300, which is a fair amount of cash. Does anyone have a Ventura on a Blast? | ||

EZ: Now, all I need is the special tool to take the Easy-Out bit out of the screw!  Anyway, the bugger came right out.  The dealer wanted me to ride with transmission oil leaking out until October 16, which was the soonest they could get it in. The process they were going to use was going to take a lot more work. How long can the Blast!'s transmission work when the fluid is leaking out? Side note: I remember the anti-Blast propaganda where he blamed his engine cutting out on the clutch switch, or that's the way it sounded. I thought that switch only locked out the starter. Maybe he was running on the starter instead of the engine!  That reminds me, where can I buy some A1R pneumatic fluid? My tires need lubrication. | ||

Circlip, I've been using the Ventura Bike Pack System since 1999. It is top quality and well worth the price. Be sure to purchase the optional grab handle to put in place of the pack rack for when you are not carrying luggage. | ||

Circlip, I also have a Ventura system. There should be a pic of it on my profile now (if I did that right). I messed it up putting it on though. It didn't fit quite right, and I started bending things to get it too fit. Blake, can you tell me how far apart the bottom corners are supposed to be on the U-shaped bar? I got sick of taking it off, bending things, and putting it back on, so I've just been leaving the tall rack on. - dave f. | ||

Hey joey - glad things are smooth again - are you using mobil synth? I like the way my tranny shifts now - much smootherrrr. I also use a courier bag - its da fashion - lol - just blasting on the dark side! EZ | ||

Hello all, I recently bought a '01 Blast as my first bike and have been very happy with it. I have a question relating to the starter cut out switches. The first couple of times I rode the bike in a parking lot I stalled it a couple of times, not a big deal, I'd just hit the starter button and it would start back up again. While riding to work today I had a brain fart and stalled it coming off of a stop light. This time however the starter wouldn't turn over till I turned the key off then back on again. Which behavior is normal? If this is a problem, its almost certainly electrical, anyone else experience this? Thanks ~Dave | ||

I'll second the recomendation of a Timbuk 2 messenger bag. I've had mine for about 4yrs now and it's just starting to show some wear. This with daily use bicycle commuting. well worth the money. Jon Z | ||

Schrod! Been there, done that! Most likely, the clutch switch, which is right there by the clutch lever, is getting stuck. If you pull the clutch in all the way, then hook the plunger of the switch with your fingernail, pushing it in all the way, and letting it go suddenly, it should straighten up and behave. I had to push-start my Blast! several times before I discovered this (with the help of a good HD/Buell dealer at the West end of Kansas City). After doing this about 3 times, it stopped doing it permanently. If it isn't the clutch switch, check the other switches, such as the kickstand switch, etc. EZ! Mobil 1 all the way! I noticed white gunk on the inside of the clutch cover. What's that?! | ||

Bought my wife a 01 Blast. She has ll00 miles on it. We just got back from Deals Gap. Met another blast owner. He said I needed to change the tires on her blast. Anyone have any suggestions on a good set of tires for the blast. Is there any need to go to a bigger tire? EP | ||

I guess I should read before posting. We just had our lk mile service,(which cost me $420.00 for both bikes) and hopefully they checked/adjusted the primary chain, but the bike is not smooth when you shift gears. Are you guys replacing the tranny fluid with a synthetic? EP | ||

Epierce, Pirelli makes tires for the Blast!, and so does Avon. Pirelli tires last a little longer than the Dunlops. I'm trying the Avon tire right now. If the tires only lasted 1100 miles, you need to check the air more often. The rear should be good for 3000 or more, and the front, who knows? I'm almost at 9000 miles, and my front still has a long way to go. I'm about 1200 miles into my third rear tire. Pirelli: MT75. Can't remember if there's a different number for the Pirelli front. Avon: AM51 (Front) AM52 (Rear) I'm using Mobile 75W90 synthetic in my transmission. I'd wait until after 5000 miles before switching to synthetic in the engine to give it a proper break-in. Mobil 15W50 synthetic makes the engine happy. | ||

the tranny doesn't smooth out until past 5k and in reality after 10K. I switched tranny fluid to synth at 8K but only cause I didn't know better. I'd wait until at least 2500 anyway. Tires 2 lop's in 4K miles 2 pireli's in 8K miles 1 avon still looking good at almost 4K. If you switch to Avon switch both tires the Avons feel much different than the other two...they also require a bit more warmup. | ||

Thanks guys, the tires on the bolt are in great shape. Just looking for a softer compound for better handling. I have a roadgear hi tec digital tire pressure gauge. never leave the garage without checking air pressure. your input is much appreciated. | ||

A pallet of drywall fell, a corner taking out the fairing and left cf bar. Switched back to orig. alum. bars and blast light/fairing, replacements ordered - lol - for a little while people will recognize it as a Buell again - lol;0) Just Blasting on the dark side! EZ | ||

She's a cyclops again and looking good - however, now I have to watch out a lot more at night because my light is cut down to about a third - oh well in a few weeks she'll be back to her old Darth Blast look - once again - just blasting on the dark side! EZ | ||

Rode 110 miles today. Getting used to the Corbin saddle. Firmer seat, for sure. It works best for me to get off and rest after 60 miles or 90 minutes, whichever comes first. I think the Corbin seat is made for a heavier rider with a larger posterior. I'm 5'10" and about 165 lbs. Found some rural roads I've never been on before and some towns I've never seen as I headed towards Mt. Rainier from Seattle. Great late summer day to do 40-60 mph on curvy roads with mostly trees on either side. After blasting back into Seattle on the Interstate I filled up and found I'd set a new record (for me anyway) for gas mileage. The Blast got 82 mpg for the tank. Wow! Would've been higher if I filled up before returning to civilization. | ||

Long time no post... if you remember a couple of weeks ago my bike had an extremely loud pop come out of the carb and put me out of commision for the last two weeks until I could get it to the dealer (170 miles away). The dealer and I came to the conclusion that the impact of the Pop had put a hairline crack in the manifold after exhausting all other solutions by myself. Well, it turned out to be a 5 minute fix (duh!) the screw on the clamp connecting the carb to the manifold came loose from the pop and just needed to be tightened back up... I totally overlooked the clamp as it looked normal. but my question now is why does my carb pop when I start her up? even before the bubs and rejet it would sometimes pop and smoke a little. The dealer could not give me any logical reason. | ||

Ez, I hope that it doesn’t cost you too much to fix the drywall induced damage. I mounted up the exhaust you sent me, and it looks great, wouks fine and might be a little louder than my old stock pipe (maybe it’s the spirit of Darth Blast!) Kyuss, I'm glad that you didn't give up and fixed your bike. As far as popping through the carb, check your timing and the idle air mixture screw. Prof, 82 MPG!!! Wow, the most that I’ve ever got out of a tank is 73, of course I’m often doing 70+ MPH. Keep on Blastin. James | ||

Yeah I ran 79 once on a round the island ride. Keeping the RPMs at or below 4K will give you great mileage. I just have a hard time not gassing it | ||

Hey guys I got a loudness ticket(cali.) is there any way to beat it(I wish to keep my exhaust - though I could switch back and forth - know a friend with a stocker), could it be paid off and forgotten, I can't be the only Bueller with this problem - what are my options - would it be too expensive to reregister as a custom - needing advice and blasting on the dark side!
