I still haven't had time to check out the problem I've been having with my bike cutting out on me from taking off from a stop (that temperamental think I was talking about). I called the dealer and described my problem, they want me to log all the times it dies out before they pick it up. I've been reading the posts, this is a great board. Haven't noticed any members with a 2005 Blast... Anyone else out there have a '05 model? What I was interested in hearing about is your experience of the first few hundred miles with the new model bike, since I've had a few problems with mine. I have only about 90 miles on mine. | ||

There was a recall on some vent valves on the new bikes- see recalls, notices and concerns - perhaps a bad one got to an early 05 as well? GT - JBOTDS! EZ  | ||

My paper gasket on my 2001 Blast just went out badly, I always noticed the little leak, but it's been getting worse the last couple days. Does anyone know the part number for the upgraded steel gasket? Guess it's time for a new spark plug, air filter, handlebars, grips, and gasket, as the bike is way past due on two of those things...thanks guys | ||

Does anyone have a corbin seat, and if so how do you like it verse the stock lowered seat. I am debating between the corbin or the stock standard seat. | ||

Have you ever riden two up on that seat? The web site says for single riders? just wonderin. The wife likes to go for rides and she wouldnt give up the money for a seat she cant ride on. | ||

No I haven't. Since the seating area has been "scooted" back a couple of inches, that might cut a little into the pillion. That part of the seat is fairly thin. You might check the Corbin web site for a closeup to see for yourself. | ||

I took a look at it, and yes it looks a little small for a passenger, I emailed them to see if they make another seat, that can ride two up. If not I might buy it and just keep the stock seat for when she wants to ride two up. The big thing will be talking her into the 215 for the seat. Thanks for the info. | ||

Trust me. The $215 is work it. I've put about 500 miles on mine and it is finally breaking in. It is more comfortable than when I bought it. Even brand new it was not the mechanical wedgie the stock seat is. Depending on your height, you may not get fully back into the seat. (It is about 2 inches to the rear) I am 5-11 and it is great. My wife is 5-7 and she is not sure, but she'll check it out in July after she takes her MSF class. Keeping the stock seat for 2-up would be great if you like it, but since the Corbin does NOT come with the latch pin and jam nut, you might spend $7 and get them from the H-D dealer. It makes swapping seats much easier. You might also want to see if mustang has a 2-up seat for the blast.... | ||

I am 5-4 and weigh 220, the bike came with the lowered seat and I can only get about 70 miles before I start going numb. thanks I will check out mustang. This will be the last summer the wife rides for a while since we are going to try and have a baby this fall, so its not that big of deal, but for this year atleast I would like to make her happy so I can keep getting parts without her complaining to much. | ||

So since you had to buy the rocker box gasket kit that comes with two gaskets for the 2001 paper gasket fix, I'm assuming theres a few of you who have that bastard gasket laying around. If so, would anyone want to sell me it? I'd rather take it off one of you guys hands for something less than $40 as opposed to having to buy two for $40.....anybody at all? Thanks in advance! | ||

I own a 2003 blast and have been riding it ever since. about 6 months ago I added a vance and heins pro exhaust and it ran fine up until about a month ago. I noticed a dramatic decrease in fuel mil. I was getting around 70+ but lately i have been getting a mere 30. I took it into the dealership and had them service it as I always have and they found nothing. It would make sense if I had a decrease right after I put on the new pipe but thats not the case. Any Ideas??? | ||

Blast part#s 16800-84 is gasket only or 17036-91 for the kit. Though any HD dealer will probably have the Sportster gaskets in stock! | ||

Corbin is better than the low or high seat. The stock high seat (to me) is a nut crusher and will probably make conceiving a child unlikely! The low seat is much firmer but at your weight (no offense-I weigh 1/2 that) it will break in nicely (ask newblaster), but still wont be the 'nut crusher' the stock high seat is IMHO. Corbin will usually make any modifications to a seat you want. Make the back section longer,wider,higher, you name it. It may cost more than the $220 they are now charging though. (it used to be $350 new, $225 used on ebay. $220 is a hellova deal for an excellent seat) Sargents or Myers will also modify a stock seat to your specs-see 'links' section. Bueller2003: Check for intake and exhaust leaks. I had a drop in mileage on mine that was caused mostly by the exhaust nuts working themselves loose. I replaced my intake boot as well, since it was starting to crack. Now I get better mileage than I have gotten in months. | ||

Well here we go. The Jardine is in pieces on my floor. The canister ripped itself loose from the front rivets, and swung back in it's strap dragging the tire. The header pipe is cracked again since I had it welded. I called them and left a voicemail for travis, we'll see what they do. | ||

That sucks! Hopefully they'll stand behind their pipe and either send you a new, (preferably redesigned) replacement, or just refund your money. Did they tell you to have it welded? I can see that being an out for their warranty. Hopefully they don't say that having it welded voided the warranty or caused it to fail... Good luck dude. Just dropped my bike off to have the Avon rear installed and to have the bike rejetted... Should be done tomorrow, but its supposed to rain. My mechanic thought the bub and the laverda's were pretty cool. "sounds like you got a race pipe on that thing. You got a little hot rod goin here," he said.  I don't think me dealer sells many buells, but they sure are good to me. When I dropped it off for it's 3,000 mile service, I got it back all washed and clean up pretty, which was pretty cool. | ||

Ahhh...reminds me of my 1000 mile (only ever) service. When I got it back it looked like it had been sitting outside the entire time it was there! I cant wait for them to ask me why I didnt buy another bike from them!!!! It's always nice to hear there are good dealers out there. | ||

I mentioned that someone else had the pipe crack where the motor mount attaches. I told Travis from Jardine that I had it welded, he mostly wanted to see pictures. I'll throw some up in the exhaust section, he seemed pretty cool, he's going to take a look at the pictures to see where we go from there, but he did mention having the exhausts in stock and ready to ship  that sounds good to me. | ||

Thanks joey, Ill see what I can do, It just baffles me that it runs fine and idles flawless...I have a few more ideas myself but otherwise I am stumped.. |
