let me know how loud/good the bub sounds when you get it installed. I went with the pro series (mostly on looks & reliability, I think it looks the best for upgraded exhaust - IMHO), I was a little worried when I saw 'Hooker Headers' on the box - but it is the pro series setup and it looks great... I'll let you know how it sounds soon (hopefully this weekend!)

So I was talking to my father about how my blast drinks oil (about a quart in 900 miles) and he said to just get straight 50 oil, as opposed to 20W-50. Couldn't find after 3 places straight 50 motorcycle oil, so I'm trying the valvoline VR1 straight 50 racing oil. It's not enery conserving, even though I don't see how that would be a problem on a blast anyway...I'm hoping it works out well, definitely cheaper, made a $20 oil change an $11 oil change.....

Just ordered up a new set of Avons for the thumper. I called Honda and they will change the tire if its off the bike for 20$.... Whats the best way to jack up the front end to get the tire off? Dont have anything but some jackstands and big friends to lift it...

I usually jack it up by the exhaust, but I dont know if your Kerker will handle that. The other option is to push up & over on the handlebars and throw a jack stand under the R footpeg leaving it one the rear tire, kickstand & jackstand, front wheel off the ground. Make sure the bike is in gear or rear brake locked. Milk crates make excellent 'safety stands' to be sure the bike doesnt get accidently dropped.

I use tie downs up to the rafters from the handle bars, I spread the tie downs apart on the rafters or across two rafters so it looks like a big "Y" shape, I should have took some more pictures!

Also the tire changing thing is not too difficult and the Avons didn't need balancing, I had it up to 95MPH with no tire hop, you may want to save some money and do it yourself. Don't forget to get the two front brake caliper bolts out to remove the front brake caliper.

You know its times like this i hate having a neurological disease like M.S.... If i try and lift the bike my self...i fu$^& my self up, if i think real hard about a way of doing it i fu$% myself up... Oh well at least i can still ride the thing...Like i tell my docs who say quit riding....It will be a cold day in hell when you get me off two wheels, Hell i even think about the day(knock on wood) if my legs stop working to convert all to hand controls. Or put training wheels on it : )

I had my brother push the bike on the kickstand as Gearhead suggested and it looks like that might be my best bet, i dont have rafters or that would work great. I worry about it resting on that flimsy lil kickstand though??? It looks like i have about a 1" gap between my header and the block, if i could slide a crowbar in between here i could jack it up from the front, slide the crowbar in and rest it on jackstands on both sides? Hmmm, might work, as soon as i start feelin better ill go give it a shot

Brodie,
My best friend has MS, Keep the faith, he is starting some new infusion treatment tomorrow that has shown real good results. It takes 6 hours to do though.
If you use ratcheting tie downs you can lift it the inch or two needed. I cheat and run the front tire up on a 2X10 to lift it an inch and a half to start with then just pull it out after it gets loose...it doesn't take much that way. I have a friend that lifted a Yamaha Royale with ratcheting tie downs and took the engine out. He used a 2X4 across the back and supported it with saw horses. You don't have to lift it all at once!

You can use jackstands (or milk crates)under both front footpegs and the bike wont go anywhere after its lifted. The kickstand will hold the weight, it just has a habit of folding up if the rear wheel isnt locked.
If your jackstands go up in small increments you can also jack it up that way, one side a little at a time, while someone else pushes/lifts it over for you.

(Yamaha Royale is that like a Burger Royale?)

The only thing I know is its big!
My friend does not know how to drive it in any other manner than full out race bike all the time! Bags, Trunk, and passenger, scraping the pegs in every corner. He has no fear of deer, sand in the corners, traffic....nothing. Someday!

I searched these forums and could not find this subject, so here I go:

Had anyone tried adding a cooling fan to a Blast?

The PCV valve on the top of the rocker cover, that connects to the crankcase breather line, MELTED! Who knows why or how. (Idle was fast and prior owners never rode it - just let it run on idle every 3 months or so. Who knows how hot it got.)

I'd like to have a fan that I could push a button on and have it run far 30 minutes, sending cooling air over the to of the cylinder/rocker cover. Maybe across the cylinder fins as well.

Hmmm, with an aftermarket air cleaner I'm sure you could stick a fan in and use the empty mounting points on the left side of the case to anchor it. It'd also be really easy to wire it if it was in that location. You might have to make a custom mounting bracket, but EZ should know how much the blast can support in 'accesories' electrical wise and then it's just a matter of finding a fan that doesn't exceed that. I think it's very do-able, but I'm not very electrical, someone else should be able to post and give you a better idea of if it's workable or not, but the biggest obstacle I see is space....

The fan is easy, they are readily available from places like http://www.mcmaster.com/ the controler is a little tougher, but still realatively straightforward.

You've got a 15 watt accesory, and a max of about 50 amps free on a stocker before at constant drain and a dead battery - from there that guides your choices.

I just want to say thanks. The boot between the carb and intake came loose this morning. When I started it up it it kind of farted then ran ok. I stopped for Coffee and it backfired when I shut down. Went to start later and it didn't. After the advise to others here i first went to the boot and with trusty leatherman fixed problem. Thyanks again

Hello fellow Thumpers. I came to my last option this week realizing that my evolving Multiple Sclerosis is no longer going to support my love of my Blast. I posted her for sale in the classifieds section so if anyone is looking for a low milage, extra tires, fully customized, loud thumper she is ready to go for 3000$ obo, im pretty much just wanting to pay back my loan and thats it. This forum has been great and i thank all of you for all of your help and please EZ......Keep making some sick looking Thumpers for us all to droll over, im still waiting to see you make that dirt tracker, or an efi 600... The heat in Phoenix is killing me so i am also moving but i will still check up on you all periodically. Keep Blasting For me and stay safe!

Team Elves is a group of folks dedicated to helping fellow Buell owners interested in breaking land speed records - they have a noble history of records and many of the elves have helped folks here and on the general Buell board as well with various issues as well.

Yeah, but what's with the name - "elves" Do they have pointed ears, blond hair, and shoot arrows like laser beams? : D

PS - My bub show'd up UPS this morning. Less than 36 hours after the auction closed!! They must have shipped it to me through a wormhole!

It even came with the exhaust gasket - 2 infact!! It is so damn pretty, I"m planning on putting it on tonight.

Enjoy your Bub, you'll have great performance and be louder than almost any other bike in your area. The only bikes I've heard louder than EZ's red are big twins with straight pipes. Most of them also have really loud backfires as soon as they let off the throttle (why do people put on pipes and do nothing else? I'll never understand that.)
