I saw some highlights from the Thailand FP sessions on worldsbk.com ...... Larry was using the 2-disc system ......

Canepa was praising the handling of the EBR.... "the best handling bike I have ever raced" he said...

On the other hand Davies is not very happy with the front end of the Panigale ...." I never know where the limit of the front end is" .... he crashed today......

I wish the EBR can find similar power to the Ducati ....

Hi Vagelis, yes, I'm in Buriram.sadly I missed the training sessions yesterday due to a taxi driver literally taking a dump on the way to the train station. Today and tomorrow though I'll try to get some pics and share whatever I can.

Raining here now. Its so damn hot it dries pretty fast when it stops though. but hopefully the temps will be down a bit. Not sure if it favors EBR in any way but we'll see

Overcast all day so Temps were pretty low actually. Spent some extra coin to do one of the pit walks. Talked for a couple seconds with Nick and Larry. Who were nice enough to sign my Ebr tshirt. Not like the AMA events I've been to but wouldn't expect it to be. Believe Nick was 14th in practice and Larry I think was 18th. Watched nick do superpole but didn't see the final results. Gotta f find somewhere to upload the pics for you all... apologies in advance if there might be as many umbrella girls as bikes....

Let's hope that both Nick and Larry finish both races ..No crashes this time ! ! ! .... The track in Thai is definately a Horsepower track..... Not suited to the EBR

Aragon is close ...very close .....Aragon is more suited to the EBR ..... The EBR team must be cool this round and focus for Aragon !

???

aragon is even worse. the longest straight in wsbk and uphill-powersections...definitly not suited for ebr. they blew 2 engines last year there. maybe this time canepa is able to brake later with the 2 disc system.

and yes, i know aragon, i live near there. i was there just last week for 4 days. and i'm there at least 6 times a year.

I agree, it's a long season, and there are plenty of tracks that will suit the 1190 better and this season isn't about a championship. Hoping I can stay awake long enough to "watch" the race on live timing...

Well... I thought Aragon was one of the slow-flowing track....... A lot of journalists suggested that ... We wait and see in 3 weeks.... There is also Assen 1 week after Aragon...

I wish for a Top 10 tommorow ...

i think portimao and jerez and imola (canepa's livingroom) could be their biggest chance to make good points.

maybe tomorrow, if it rains, too...

Race 1 nick to pits on lap 3. Larry getting owned on the straights. Overcast so not ridiculous hot but still pretty warm. Looks like Larry hit the pits on lap 17.

Not sure why there's no Ebr starts in R2. Sadly for me anyways, everything is in Thai. We'll have to wait for the word from the team : (

Out of engines? Maybe not enough time between races to change them? The shot of Nicco in the pit after his retirement in race one, showed a frustrated, frazzled man.

If you listen carefully, you can hear Larry sizzle from here. I can't claim to know him, but I know his type don't take well to failure.

The last thing EBR needs is another year of

It would be very nice to know what the problems are that EBR is experiencing. However, it is most likely a certainty that we will never know as tight lipped as these guys are. What we do know is that both Larry and Canepa are faster than last place, That leaves the bike and the race team as the problem

Who is going to stop Johny Rea this year ???

Also look at Leon Haslam and Sylvain Guintoly .... they changed bikes and they changed finishing places ....

Amazing what a good package can do....

I feel sorry for Chaz Davies... he has the same problems on the Panigale that Casey Stoner had on the Ducati GP8-10( both bikes had a "no-frame" design..... when he tries to push hard to follow the leader he loses the front.....

I also feel sorry for EBR ........ 40hp (my assumption) down on power and still there are reliability issues...... Canepa says that the chassis is the best he has ever raced .... I wish he doesn't lose his motivation ......

I'm sorry, but I just don't see what the point of this exercise might be.

Or why anyone might think that EBR has the resources to be successful in this arena.

Doesn't mean they don't make a good motorcycle, but they are just not in this league.

Or am I missing something here?

It's still all about money. The big teams up front are on 1/2 million $$ bikes. All that development $$ that kawasaki, yamaha, suzuki, honda and ducati threw at their bikes, it shows. Limit them to a $$ amount, say maybe $50k max for the bike, well, things get equaled out pretty fast, see how Cory West did the other day. Run them on production bikes like what you'd get out of the showroom, it would probably be a completely different outcome.

I personally could care less how they do in wsbk, it wouldn't have made a bit of difference on my either buying or not buying the EBR. I ride on the street, not a race track. To race at their level, it's all about money and skill. Who has the most money? Who's got more skill? Put them on equal machines, THEN it would be interesting because it would be based on skill alone. Well, maybe a little luck as well.

EBR is not in the same league. You are correct. The point is that they think they are. Otherwise, they would not have entered into WSB. They also think they have the talent and the resources. We, in this forum, do not know what's going on. All I read is speculation and EBR is not talking. Whatever is going on, it is not helpful to EBR. They need to fix the problem or leave WSB. They don't have to win to stay, but they do have to run mid-field.

I'm willing to bet Erik is working on a new powerhouse and transmission, on the lines of the same platform.
By running with the big dogs, you see your faults, weaknesses and positives. the Rotax platform is a great street engine but not so great racing engine. This is exactly what EBR needs to know. I'm sure he could keep working with this engine but in the end, there will be the same old song and dance, lacking top end. Lots of blown engines and engine part failure.

Johnny was pretty competitive on that slug of a Honda he was stuck with. After years of loyalty to the brand, Honda let him down so now he's showing what he is capable of doing on a COMPETITIVE motorcycle.

Johnny is not my most favorite competitor, but I think he's going to clean up this year.

You're not wrong. The two front runners are the ex Pata Honda team mates.
On the other side I think Sylvain Guintoli's 6th place from the back of the grid was equally impressive...... on the slug of a Honda.
Tom Sykes must be having a hard time. He's riding a bike that is worse than the one he rode last year but Johnny Rea can't believe how much better his bike is than the Honda.

Great to see Alex Lowes pick up a podium. I'd be amazed to see Randy de Puniet see out the season.

If Nick Canepa says that the EBR has the BEST chassis he has ever reced in his career ....I believe him ...

Let's remember he has raced in the world stage: Ducati 1198R , Ducati motoGP GP9, Kawasaki ZX10R ZX6R, Ducati Panigale ...

So ....who are the people to say that EBR is not in the same league as other teams to race in WSBK ??? Please people ...stop talking bullshit !

EBR is a small manufacturer .... very small ....what EBR has achieved is great ..... EBR chose the hard path .... to race with the engine that is built "in house" ......

Look at BIMOTA .... where are they ? They chose to run a BMW motor last year ... that was easy ...they had decent results and I am very happy for them ....but they steped down for 2015

Look at MV Agusta ... they are also a small manufcturer, but not as small as EBR , and they also have the same problems as EBR ...their engine is underpowered and they had 2 DNFs in Thailand with mechanical problems ,,,,,, Also MV Agusta use an IL4 engine, that is supposed to be a better configuration that the 2cyl engine EBR is using , for racing ... So EBR hasa more difficult task .....

EBR needs WSBK...and WSBK needs EBR .....

EBR needs time...and maybe another engine, But that is another story ....

Lets wait for a few more rounds at more flowing and slower tracks like Jerez, Portimao, Assen , Laguna ...... and then we have a better image

Never give up !
