This was one of the best races I have ever seen and I've seen a few over the years. I cannot help but to remember that I just said in a few threads ago how I thought this was the absolute best STREET bike I have ever ridden. And now tops in its class.........outstanding. On another note watching on surround sound and big screen you could never miss the sound the Buells made coming by. Unmistakable. Great day, congrats to ALL who made this happen. We will be on the podium and probably a first before the years end. Some great tracks await where Buells will dominate. Bob

The part I like best about this . . . . as a motorcycle enthusiast, is that I had to LOOK this morning to see what brand of motorcycle won the race.

It was neat seeing Vickie's 88 year old Aunt yelling "Go Erik". We tried to explain that Erik was not actually riding the motorcycle but my Italian is weak and I was engrossed, so we just let her cheer!

Looks like Eslick takes last place for passing multiple riders when the pace car was out.

He still showed he can run at the front.
I would've been inclined, if it were me, to sandbag a lap after the pod malfunction and had no chance of winning, just to get back in with Ben and mix it up the rest of the race and lead him across the finish line just to show that I could. But that's me

I was more concerned with him duct-taping his own bike, which seemed to upset the announcers.

Did he really do this? I mean, I guess he must have, but did anyone see what happened or hear his side yet?

Yep, Danny is a duct tape pro!
He did it the right way so it would work.

From what I could see, I think he used enough tape to tape the pod to the frame/tank, the airbox cover and whatever else was underneath the pod behind the forks instead of taping the outside of the pod to its inside like the crew was doing.

I was told that it is against the rules for the rider to do his own work....

From what I've been reading, the rule only limits how many people can be 'over the wall' working on the bike - 5 I think. So as long as the team sends 4 over the wall, the rider can count as the 5th guy working the bike and can pick up a wrench.

. . . at that point . . . . good, bad or indifferent . .. I was so impressed with his riding, the bike performance and the intensity (it just seemed under the lights to become explosively intense) that I was just hopping up and down cheering Danny on!
