I managed to score a 2009 Uly xb12x off fleabay for a good price with around 5k miles. It doesn't have any saddlebags currently and I'm pretty sure the factory branded locking ones aren't available anymore thanks to HD folding the company on us. what are some other alternatives that wont set me back too much? maybe some kind of rack and some pelican cases?

edit: actually does anyone know where I can find a manual since the links are broken as well?

Hepco-becker made those bags for the company.

So the bags are readily available, I am not sure about the mounting stuff though.

Try the remaining Buell supporting dealers.
Since the bags were standard on XT and XP platforms, they and the mounting hardware may still be available.
I have no idea, as I'm no longer at a dealership.

If you get nowhere, I can send you pix of my brackets.

Zack

<edit> I didn't clik Airdale's link.. looks like the right stuff, probably cheaper than H-D too.
I've ordered a couple of maintenance items(latch kits) from Hepcoe-Becker with no issues.

my 2009 XT has the hepko bags that latch at the front. I think the earlier version had the latches at the rear and any Hepko bags will mount to them.
so if you have mounting racks already, see which rack it is, the HB bags that are not Buell specific are great bags.

HB on left Happy Trails on right, HT makes a kit to mount their big boxes to the HB rack.

I didn't have any problem ordering the mounting racks from HD. Just have to find a dealer willing to speak "Buell." Had to order individual parts but everything was available.

For Hepco & Becker cases, I bought a tail case from Adventure Motostuff in Carson City, NV. (amotostuff.com.) I think the H-B product name was Journey.

If you haven't already checked, look in the classified section of BadWeb. Sometimes the bags show up there. That's where I got my side cases and mounting brackets.

hmm I found the racks and everything based on the parts numbers etc. does anyone know which bags will mount to those hepco racks from HD that will also allow a passenger to ride without interference?

Journey bags (the round ones) work on either set of racks.

Outdoorsman bags (police bags, all black square bags) ONLY work on Outdoorsman racks (latch to the rear). Those racks move the bag further back on the motorcycle, allowing room for passenger feet (and pegs).

I put the Givi mounts on my XT because I already had Givi bags which I really like. This has left me with the entire XT setup (bags and mounts) gathering dust. I've posted them a time or two, but the only nibbles I've gotten were for almost laughable low ball offers. PM me if you're interested, and for shipping's sake I hope you're near Texas.

Although the "factory" Journey bags might make getting on/off a little more awkward for the passenger, my wife has plenty of room once in place with the factory Hepco bags.
Most of the awkward part is due to the high passenger footpeg location, and the shortness of my wife!

Ammo Can

I have less than $75 for the cans and adaptors to mount them to the factory luggage rack.

That's a heck of a start for $40. Nice find.
