Birdman, I can post a pic of the bolt kit for you but not today. The kit is about $20.

You could probably piece together a similar arrangement from the hardware store but the factory parts are excellent and a slick install.

No one answered yet, but can you take the screen on and off without taking the main front fly screen off?

I don't mind unbolting it to take it off.

Hi,

This is a picture of the bolts from the recall kit service bulletin that I got a while back from Daves. YOu will have to take the screen off to remove the screen after putting this kit on, part No. 57739-07Y.


Winshield Recall Bulletin #0831


I put a Laminar Lip on mine and the bolts at the same time. The Lip has worked great for my a little over 6' height.

Amazing. Glenn, You just gave me more info than Buell CS and my dealer combined. I tried to get the part number from CS when the discussions with my dealer became problematic. I just wanted to buy a kit and install it myself, but they told me they couldn't (wouldn't?) give me the part number and even if I had the number I would be unable to buy it. It's a safety issue don't ya know and can only be installed by the dealer.

What a way to run a railroad.

Have you told the dealer that this is your only means of transportation and that they could provide you with a loaner bike until the service is completed?

If they won't work with you find a new dealer. The dealer that has serviced my bike (not the place where I purchased the bike) decided to advertise here, so I had to mention here about the service I received and the next thing I know they come to the house to pick the bike up and have followed up with 2 calls so far and they just picked it up today...If all goes well I'll happily post on their web advertisement here...Sometimes you need to be an a-hole, I think the Harley guys do this well..just not my first response to improper customer service. Superglide, I could write many paragraphs describing the conversations I had with both my dealer and Buell CS, but I really don't want to dwell on it that much. I do like the bike, but don't necessarily care much for the way things have been handled. Some will say go to another dealer. The dealer I go to now is over 30 miles from home. The next closest is 50 and I'm not convinced they're any better. The one dealer who I think might be my best shot is over 80 miles away so I may take the bike to them when I have a bigger problem. The bottom line given to me during this whole saga was "if you want it fixed, it's our way or the highway". I decided to take the highway.

It's funny though, or maybe just the luck of the draw, but I have read about other great experiences with Buell and how CS always seemed to get the ball rolling when there was a problem between customer and dealer. Didn't really happen that way in my case. CS seemed just as confused about whether there was a recall on my windscreen as the dealer was. As I posted previously, this website provides me with more info than Buell. That said, the following is the way I hoped my dealings with CS had actually gone (note - this is pure fantasy):

CS rep. speaking "let's see here Mr. Dirt, our records show that you bought your 2007 Ulysses in Jan 07. Great choice by the way. I also see where your bike has the optional tall windscreen installed. How's that again? You say your windscreen doesn't have the new and improved fasteners? Oops, our mistake. My computer indicates there was a recall issued for that windscreen in Aug 06 and your bike shouldn't have been sold without the recall kit installed. Say what? You spoke to a dealer about getting the recall kit and they said they could order it, but only if you left your bike in their shop the entire time? That's ridiculous and totally unacceptable; those parts are in stock and I will have them packaged and in the mail to your dealer by the end of today. In fact, I'll make a call to let them know the parts are on the way. Your dealer will be contacting you very shortly to schedule an appointment. You know Mr. Dirt, we love our dealers, but sometimes they forget that a happy customer tends to be a repeat customer. We're sorry for any inconvenience this error on our part has caused you. So, now that we've got that easy little problem under control, do you have any other issues you'd like my help with today? Maybe something a little more challenging?"

In reality CS did say they would call the dealer and try to work something out and that they would call me back and let me know. It's been over a week now and I've heard nothing. I'd be surprised to hear from them at this point.

Dirt,

If the problem with CS is that some customers don't go back for the install and they are stuck, have you considered offering to pay for the parts and get a refund when you go back for the installation? Just a thought that I hadn't seen in the thread.

Gotj, That's exactly what Mrs. Dirt said. I still think I'm going to go with the Zero Gravity, but I may propose that solution to the dealer and see what they say.

By the way, Mrs Dirt also told me I always seem to be at war with someone over something. Said she's looking forward to the day when I can calm down and we can have some peace and quiet around the house. Some woman just don't understand.

heck yeah, order them, and then when you go in to buy them, get the refund prior to installation. if it takes that to work with the dealer, make it clear that you will be coming in for all recalls, and that if they play nice, you can buy consumables from them. Maybe a helmet once in couple years. I am going to buy stuff from my local dealer, if they take care of me.
