Just got back from a short shakedown ride. It's 33 degrees with some wind out there, but at least the streets are dry. I had a slight windshield vibration at 2400 rpms, that did not occur at any other rpm level. I'll play around with the rubber washers and see if that cure the problem. But over all I'm happy with the 16" over windshield. No head/shoulder buffeting. Only took the bike up to 80mph and it was rock stable at that speed. I'm setting the bike up for an IronButt event in August. I can expect to be doing 1000+ miles for 7 straight days. This windshield is going to help alot. Interested in other rider reports also. I tried mounting the two top bolts first, the two bottom bolts first, one side at a time and it wasn't until I brought out the Dremmel that the holes lined up. Just a little tweak and everything lined up. |

Posted on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 - 01:19 am: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I posted on the closed thread that the folks at CB's replaced the three +6 with the requested +2 and they seem to be OK. The one on mine is working great and at my 5' 8" size I get clean air right at my helmet visor, with very little at my chest. We are going to try some V.3 Micro-Swirl edging from www.saeng.com. it is a molded clip on and cost about $12 a foot. We will put it on the +2 and the stock just to see what it does. Will post what happens when we do. ... Terry |

Bosh...let me know how the +2 works. I don't want a big barn door screen as I like my head in clean air. I just want to get the air off my chest a bit. Right now, windblast at 80+mph is hitting me right below my sternum. That leaves my chest to act as a big sail. But my head is in perfectly clean air. I don't want to change that. |

Buelldyno, thanks for the re-post. I missed that one. Chad, I'll let you know. I'm looking for the same thing out of it as you. I'm tall also (6'3") so I should be able to give you a good report. Their site says 10 to 15 working days lead time before shipping so it may be awhile. |

Cool! If it works, I'll be getting one. Just didn't want to order it and have it create turbulence on my helmet or do nothing. |

Just got the 16" shield from Daves. Installed it and took a ride into NYC for the Motorcycle show. Well the wind blast hits me from my nose up. The noise was unbearable at any speed over 60 MPH. I am 6'0" tall. Just for kicks when I got home I taped up a piece of plastic to the shield and went for a ride. I needed to extend the shield to 21" before the air went over my head. The test speeds were up to 90 MPH. I will be going back to my stock shield once it gets warmer out. I think the 12" might be the way to go if you want you head in clean air and to minimize the blast on the body. Also the shield I got, the black tint area does not cover the dash area all the way so from the front you can see some of the dash. Did anybody else get one like this? I will be calling Cee Baileys about this and see if they would make a 21". Mike Long Island, NY 06 XB12X Black of course |
