Rocket, in a professional capacity, and more on Saturday.

Buell doesn't have a press-only part of their website, and generally, in the US, they physically hand deliver or fed-ex press kits (with a nice CD-ROM) to journalists. Harley (which handles Buell marketing) can be very secretive, and they really want to control information flow. The best way to do that is to hand it out at the last minute.

Usually at least one guy per magazine is invited to the dealer show. I'm not the one going this year. There will be a presentation for journalists at the show, probably by Erik, perhaps a marketing type to talk about product planning and positioning, and also some of the engineers who were most involved in the new bikes.

There's also a big floor show with new bike displays (both Buell and Harley), lots of accessory displays, and most interesting, booths from some of the OEM suppliers. You can learn a lot from talking to the engineers at the OEM booths. I had a long conservation once with an engineer from Gertag on the development and testing of the V-Rod transmission; you simply can't get this kind of information anywhere else. (How many here even knew Gertag made that transmission?)

Davegess, see Whodom's post above.

Interesting stuff Steve and nope I didn't realize Getrag made the V-Rod tranny but then when I think about we could assume it's pretty obvious given the German connection. Amazing what you find out on the BadWeB!

Do I like \ care for \ would have a V-Rod? Well with a little bit of customizing - and if no one else had one, then maybe, but not as my one and only ride that's for sure.

I'm keen to see the new Buell(s) though. Not that I'm in the market but never been a wanter of an XB Buell I'm interested to see in which direction the XB development is heading. Perhaps it might offer a clue as to what Buell will design \ develop in the future.

It is currently 1645 UTC [Universal Coordinated Time] 22 July 2005. That means in 7 hours and 15 minutes, it will be 23 July 2005. At 0001 UTC I expect full disclosure.

It'll get here when it gets here... in any case, I bet the reactions to the new models are better than last year's.

Thanks Anonymous: D

So what's the reaction inside Buell Dr. in East Troy, WI. I'd bet nobody ever predicted this much interest in a new Buell. It's all over the web (and not just BadWeb). ADVrider has almost 950 posts on this bike alone.

Very cool!!! I can't wait to see and ride the new model.

Well that's pretty specific...and from a reliable source.

Too bad I'll be out riding my Buell at that time. I thought it would be fun to annoy the local ABATE crowd by "infecting" their procession with the Buell "virus" during the second annual Peach Festival Poker Run.

I might actually find the rev limiter on the CityX for the first time.

You probably won't believe it, but there even are numerous discussions about the new Buell on many Polish bike forums : D. This is really funny, 'cause H-D dealers sold...5 Buells in total there in 2004/2005, including mine : ). Just tells you that this bike would be hugely popular if it wasn't for the price.

I think the rumored price is VERY competitive with it's rivals. The BMW R1150GS has an MSRP of $14,560 and the KTM Adventure is listed at $13,898. That would put the Buell a full $2K less than the KTM. Not too shabbey (IMHO).

I think I annoyed the local 1% crowd here. One thought his Road King was hot s***. That was until he decided to race me saying I couldn't take him.

Yea, and I'll be at my Mom's this weekend with no internet access until Sunday night.

It's gonna be a LONG weekend ..... unless by some miracle my September issue of Cycle World is in the mail when I get home.

The big Suzuki V-Strom is $8,999, the Ducati Multistrada 1000 is $11,995, and the Multistrada 1000S is $13,495. Looks like the Buell pricing will be smack in the middle of the range of its main competitors.

I'm not ready to be a Ducatisti, and the Soozook is, well, a Soozook... it's a long story.

OTOH, I'm already brand loyal to Buell, so I probably don't count in this argument!

Midknyte- we're talking rural SC here. Nearest library is ~10 miles away; nearest Kinko's is ~65 miles away. I might be able to borrow a cousin's computer for a few minutes.

Otherwise, I'll check in with y'all Sunday night!

In the US... what will the price be in Europe and what do those bikes sell for in Europe?

Exactly... Actually, there are two factors. First one is Buell pricing in Europe, for example, XB12S/R selling price in Europe is $14,300-$14,400 (believe it or not, but we just do not see any effect of strenghtening Euro against USD in the pricing policy of Buell here...). Second factor is European price of the R1150GS, which sells for about $14,500. I rest my case...

Thanks anon. I will be at work where I will thankfully be able to update my screen immediately upon the strike of 11am CST and bask in all the glory of the new models. Thanks for not making it Tomorrow day sometime, where I would have had to wait restlessly thru the night, like waiting for X-mas... It is like Christmas, just for big kidsI've got to find something to do to make the hours go by faster.

This was posted on ADVRider a little while ago. Seems plausible....

I saw one, I saw one!
Saw the new new Buell DS at 16:22, 5 miles west of Conifer, CO. Looked like the guy was out test driving it. Saw it headed west first. Just caught a quick glimpse. When I managed to safely turn around to chase it down it had turned around too and was now headed east towards Denver.
Looks pretty much like the poster w/ the snakes. The one I saw was mandarin yellow, just like my BMW.
Didn't get too see it too well, quick flash picture as it zipped by the opposite direction. Had the headlight off the City X, w/ a super moto high fender. From what I could tell it looked like a giant Supermoto. Possibly 17" or 19" front wheel, w/ street tires. The tail section was long and swooped up to the tail light.

That's all for now. Well see tomorrow if it was realy it.

Tomorrow is the day. If the bike has what I desire in a motorcycle, I may add one to the garage. I do like the looks of the iBike (City-X), and I suspect this bike will have styling cues taken from that bike. With the exception of that single disc brake up front, I find the iBike appealing.

I am not at all a fan of that goofy rim brake, as I much prefer double discs to one single humongous disc (far more pleasing to my eyes, thank you!), but the lack of dual discs up front is not a deal breaker. Close to it, but not quite.

The possible addition of a larger fuel tank is a big plus for me. I hope it is at least five (U.S.) gallons.

It does not seem a good idea to put a disc that is so close to the terra firma on a bike that will be off-road capable. A bent or dinged up rotor comes to mind, when I think of this rim brake in the dirt world.

But I am not Mr. Buell.

Toad.

It is not a dirt bike intended to live in "the dirt world". It is a road bike intended to take on all roads, not only the paved ones, but the gravel and dirt ones too.
