Looks like a 1200cc City-X.

Nothing new??!! Well, there are going to be a number of exhausted engineers disappointed in hearing that after two years of busting ***.

Well I hope after 2 years they did more then add handgaurds and a plastic windshield. If it is nothing more then a XB12 with agressive tires and some different plastic, people won't care. Buell is not Harley. You can't just change the bags on the bike and call it a New Model.

In my heart I am hoping it is cool, but it would have to be alot more then that picture to trade in my M2

5.7 gallons!!!??? Sheesh, at 50mpg, that would give a range of near 300 miles. At 65mpg highway like the current XB12's make, that would yield a range of 370 miles! An honest 4.5 gallon tank would work fine for me... a good honest 200 mile bike. There is no way I ever want to do more than 200 miles in one sitting. But I can see why some would. That's just not me.

Interesting- the "own all the corners" video link on the Buell home page isn't working right now (5:36 AM EDT). Wonder if they're uploading a new version?...}

Blake: "at 50mpg" is more like it than 65. I've never seen better than 57, personally. There are a LOT of places in this world where gas stops have to be more than 150 miles apart... Another two gallons doesn't seem like a lot to ask in that market niche, given (my admittedly vague memories of) gigantic aftermarket tanks on R80G/S's.

I'm willing to allow for a little fudging, of course.

Most people have no idea how good an XB12 handles dirt roads, 90-something% (approx from what I hear) won't even take a belt driven motorcycle on a dirt road to start with (shame...) If this new Buell is in fact 1200cc with an off-road or all-road capability it will kick some serious *** compared to the competition, I have no doubt about that.

Two things:

Thing 1: What will the price point be on this/these new model(s).

Thing 2: I recall a certain gentleman in the last few months asking for input on long roads with few gas stations, could have something to do with something else that also happened recently. (Ignore this if my parallel observation is knitting two things together that aren't together, I won't explain it further than that.)

Parallel to the price point issue, what will trade-in value be for "older" bikes. A little loyalty incentive would be a nice promotion to offer. Just a thought. ; ) (In the mean time I'm back to thinking about RoadKings.)

Now 9:22 AM EDT and the "own all the corners" video link on the Buell.com main page is still not working. The URL for the teaser video is still valid http://www.buell.com/en_us/index_teaser.asp, but the URL's been changed on the button at Buell to http://www.buell.com/en_us/indexHigh.asp which comes up as 404- "page cannot be found". Maybe we're gonna get an updated teaser shortly?...

They'll sell a frickin' MILLION of these : ).

I remember when the CX came out... Just about everyone here bashed it. Then they went to a dealer to look at it...

I can't believe there's people here who are judging this thing based on an "artist rendering". It looks to me like they had a pic of a yellow 12S and drew the pic. Then someone came in and said hey, it's got a laminar lip too...

I'll bet there will be plenty of new changes...

Just wait : ).

I can't wait for it to be posted on Buell's website so I can see the 360 degree view and read all the hype.

So far, the artwork makes it look real appealing. About the only thing that confuses me is the MX helmet on an Adventure Tourer, but then, that's artistic license for you.

Wonder if Buell or the aftermarket will make an aluminum bash plate? Sure would hate to mess up the Muff and whatever else is exposed down there.

A 17" front wheeled d/p is an oxy moron IMO. Let alone rim brakes? Not what I'd call real off road worthy. We'll see, though. Finger's crossed.

How would the perimeter brake not be off-road worthy?

But again, the Ulysses is neither a "dual sport" nor an "off road" bike. It is an all-roads bike. Neither does is it appear to be a purpose built "tourer." Buell is calling it an "adventure-sport" bike. Probably best to take them at their word on what type of bike it is. : )

Considering analogies in the automotive world, I see the Buell Ulysses as being akin to a sporty rally car, rather than a go-anywhere Land Rover or a full blown all-terrain 4WD racer.

Good call, Blake. But a damn comfortable rally car, with a big trunk.

Blake-

Don't think I'd want my brake rotor living in the dirt and mud. Too close to ground- rock damage, etc. I'd call it the SUV of dual sports (based on the drawing of course).

I think any 'SLAP IN THE FACE' directed at the "your-a-pee-on"s is great! I hope the new bike completely smokes bmw's over sized monstrosity and ktm can kiss my yaass as well! I reaaly like it so far.

Good point. I still disagree. It is not a "dual sport". Buell calls it an "adventure sport". If you look at the models of motorcycles monikered as dual sports they are much more dirt oriented.

I think it is best to accept the manufacturer's description. Pushing the Ulysses to compete with dual sport bikes will only show it in a bad light.

Best to compare it to bikes in its same class, the Duc Multistrada, KTM Supermoto, BMW R1200GS, Suzuki V-Strom, Triumph Tiger. None of those are billed as "dual sports" either.

i wouldnt count on a low version, it sort of defeats the purpose of this style of bike.
