Neutral light just stopped working after sitting for the winter of COVID? Any clues as to why or how to fix. Thx |

Perhaps more helpful - Unplug the wire at the switch. With the bike in neutral, take your multimeter, set on ohms, and go from the wire contact to ground. If the switch is bad, you should have an open. While there, turn the ign on, switch the multimeter to volts, and confirm 12V to the switch from the harness. Hope this helps, Dave |

Take it for a ride. Don't know if there the same but my 2006 stopped working after the winter so I had to pull in the clutch to to start it but within an hour it healed itself. |

Thanks for the help. First, where is said switch? I do have a shop manual but you probably know how spotty those are. I haven't been able to find it in there. And it did come back on after that first ride after sitting but has been a no show since then. Thanks again. |

link to Buell Mods. They have service manuals to view or download for free. I think the 2009 will work for you, they don't list a 2008 http://buellmods.com/ |

The switch is under the belt pulley cover. It's covered under section 7.21 in my shop manual. |

I had the same issue with my neutral light on my 09 XB12Ss, I had to take the belt off the front pulley to be able to remove the wire from the sensor, troubleshooting led me to believe the sensor was bad, the neutral light had not worked in a year, starting at about 1,400 miles on the bike. Since I didn't a sensor, I plugged the wire back on and now the neutral light has been working perfectly.. go figure.. |
