Hi,
I'm Keith in Augusta Georgia and I currently ride a KLR650, a Honda VLX and a CB650SC. I've been riding almost 30 years and mostly like torquey motors and subliter bikes for weight and performance. The longest I've owned one bike was a R100GS for 9 years but I usually keep a bike for 3 to 5 years. The largest bike I've owned was an FJ1200 and the smallest was the RD200 I started out on.

I went by the Buell/Harley dealer today for a part for my KLR (same Klein CV40 carb as an older 883) and sat on a Ulysses. The sales guy said they were asking $10,600 and working from there. He referenced this site so here I am.

Greeting to all

Keith

The "Guest Book" is not the best place for this kind of discussion.

Hi Galls n Galls.
Names Brian from the UK. I have been a Buelligan since 1998 and lived through the recall years. Now I have been converted to the XB with an 06 city x.

I am an all year biker and use a V-Strom as my commuter bike. I would like to change this for a Uli, but unsure (through experience) of the build quality and durability of the Uli in all weathers.

It is usually wet over hear, then cold, then snow, Have any of you got any experiences in all weathers with the Uli, and any tips would be appreciated. I have got some idea from the Uli forum, Just looking for more info before letting go of my trusty Strom.

Anyhoo, Hi to you all again.

Hello everyone

kid on the block here

I just picked up my Ulysses on Monday, Aug 21 and have been patiently breaking it in. I found out about this forum from recently joining the Sport-Touring.net and a post by one of the members there.

I have had my eye on the Uly for some time now and finally broke down (or should I say convinced my wife that it was OK for me to get one) and bought the bike. I just happened to have some good timing as my Harley dealer is offering any new 06 Buell for $1 over dealer cost. I am really looking forward to some fun on this bike, both in the twisties and light off road duty.

I have been riding for 35 + years and in my garage there currently are four other bikes (05 Road King Classic, 03 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic, 2004 Yamaha 125, and a custom Harley FXR drag bike). I ride at least 15,000 miles a year and in my spare time am a RiderCoach for the Virginia Rider Training Program. Needless to say safety is one of my biggest concerns and I practice what I preach.

Ever since I started riding all those years ago my excitement of getting on my bike has never waned. As a matter of fact I experience withdraws if I go too long without riding.

I know that I will enjoy me stay here and look forward to contributing to the forum.

Ride safe ladies and gentlemen...see you out on the road

John

I have a 97 S3 and love it.I've always wanted an S1.Recently met a guy who is willing to trade a 97 S1.I rode his bike today and wasn't very impressed. It looks good but there was a funny feeling in the front end and a light oil film all over the battery and rectifier. My bike doesn't leak a drop of oil. his bike has 500 miles less but just doesn't feel right.Just curious if it would be worth my S3.

Hello Buelligans. I bought my first road bike back in October last year about the time gas hit $3 a gallon. I own an 05 XB12Scg, have ridden it 8,000 miles thus far, and have grown to really appreciate my time out riding. I work full time as a technical writer for an IT dept. of state govt. and am also a full time graduate student. As you can imagine my life can get stressful sometimes, but when I'm in the moment on my Buell it all melts away in sight of the next twistie. (-:

I have been looking for hard bags for a 2000 M2 for what seems like forever. Does anybody know if the bags from the Thunderbolt will crossover to the M2? If not, any suggestions on what will work. I am also looking for a good tank bag. Any info would be a great help. Thanks!!

Hi! Love my Buell. Had it for 10 months now which is a record for me - I usually get bored and start looking for a new bike at around 6 months. Getting ready for my first big trip from LA area to Las Vegas, then north to Yosemite. I'm also looking for a small windscreen to make the freeway more bearable. Any advice appreciated.

Anyone ever figure out how to stop gas tank blistering on the old tubers? I bought the S1 in '97 new. After a few years it started to blister. The factory was no help. So now I paint it every year because of blistering. I like the bike too much to ever get rid of it, but the blistering is a pain in the butt (just like the little seat yuk! yuk!).
If anyone is passing through St.Louis I'll show you some Ozark twisties.
I can't help but comment; the seals most likely blew after the accident.

See the Paint and Bodywork topic in the Knowledge Vault. Paint should not blister, only the old under-paint logos. Buell will provide a new tank with raised external plastic logos if you like.

Welcome to badweb Paul.

She is pretty short 5ft 2in.

It will fit her very well. What are your concerns? Perhaps we can address them.

I've been hanging out here for about one week and I'm hoping to buy a new Uly before spring '07. After reading a few posts about adventure rides I'm thinking perhaps a few rallies around the US in mind of good unpaved roads, good twisty routes, etc. The GS riders have had some rallies like this. There was one in North Carolina I went to in '95 that had a 140 mile unpaved poker run. There were some very challenging washed out roads and optional easy roads to get to the same destination. If this can be put together with GS, Tiger, Gran Canyons, Elefants (any out there?) and of course, KLRs it could be a lot of fun. If a bunch of Buells then invade a local dealer for several oil changes and the free coffee we could make a positive impression on a dealer to get with the program of SUPPORTING Buells. Plus it would be fun to scare the polish and buff crowds with muddy boots and conversation around real tech stuff instead of what sounds right, which pipes look right and the other politically correct bullshit at Harley dealers.
Just a thought.

I'm riding an ST1100, black, all decals removed. Jones'n for a Uly. Any color will do. Happy trails.

HEY CHROMER, ABOUT YOUR BLISTERING S1 TANK...THESE TANKS HAD A FLAW FROM THE FACTORY WHERE THE PLASTIC HAD VERY SMALL PEROSITY HOLES IN IT,CAUSING THE PAINT TO BLISTER. THIS HAPPENED ON ALOT OF THE OLD TANKS. BESIDES THE TANK DECALS ALWAYS BLISTERING UP.
THEY MAKE A PLASTIC FILLER THAT YOU PUT IN BEFORE THE TOP COAT OF BONDO FILLER.
ANYONE CHECK OUT THE PIRELLI'S ON THE 07 XB'S????

Hello everyone. I have talked to alot of Harley Shops regarding my Buell and they say that this is the site to ask all of my questions. They say that ya'll have more knowledge then they do regarding Buells. They haven't been able to help me so far and so...I hoping that you can. This girl loves her Buell! I have an 04 Buell XB9R-Yellow (Gotta Love Yellow)I bought it brand new and I love it! But...it is alittle tall for me. It becomes top heavy when you are on your tippy-toes. The bike is fantstic and I want to exhaust all my efforts to lower it so I can continue to ride. I need to lower it about 2 inches. This will make it perfect! I put a carbon fiber pipe on it, had Harley do the racing kit to go with the pipe and had my helmut painted to match. It's not only a loud color...It is LOUD! I LOVE IT! Harley tried the 03 Lowering kit but the forks and the triple trees don't match. So...back to square one. Please let me know if I have any options. Thank you for any help you can give me!

Aimee - you may want to post your question in the XBoard. There is also a knowledge vault that can be researched to see if this question has been addressed in the past.

You will find a wealth of knowledge here on BadWeb. You may also find a local Buell group close to you in the Storm Fronts section.

Good luck and welcome to BadWeb!
