Jammer, good to see you're watching this thread, fully expect you'll be joining us that weekend? yep, dog days indeed. Alex, maybe the GOPoP can come up with a title for ya. can't abandon "Baby Bart" but maybe an addendum of some sort? Pdx, we're gonna get Alex in SO much trouble... what Bart said. GOPoP, just kiddin' about the slacker part, know you're busy potentating about BADWEB and all, and i'm quite simply honored just to have your name attached to this gig. still, Alex needs a title...

just updated the contact list to reflect the addition of Ron Almeida from Las Vegas, aka Ronlv. really stoked to have someone on the ground right in Vegas, and he and Don/M1combat can tag-team to get this stop put together. we're hoping to have a second-floor suite at a "name brand" hotel with a patio overlooking the heart of the strip. the plan is to arrive in Las Vegas that night by 6 p.m., check in, clean up, grab dinner, and party! with enough players we can stay at a NICE place, right in the middle of all the action, and keep the cost down to something manageable for all parties. hey Arizonians! Vegas is close enough to you guys and gals to reach in an easy half-day ride, right? come play with us! hey SoCalians! same to you! man, if we can't rock Las Vegas, we can't rock ANYWHERE! don't make Glenn and Alex hafta show y'all how it's done. it WON'T be pretty. ride to lean. ride to roost. ride to ride. You guys are going to get me in trouble... Somehow I just sense that... If Glenn and I have to show you how to party, we've got problems. Mike and Drew were here to visit a few hours ago, we were trying to piece together the first night we all spent in Newfoundland... Definitely some holes there. Wonder if Uncle John will consider this whole thing an educational leave of absence? |

Paul- If I could figure out a way to squeeze another trip in I'd suggest that we take a trailer out to OctoberFast (if they're doing it this year). You could pick up your bike and we could ride around Northern CA. Something that is on my 'Definite To Do List'. |

Alex, resistance is futile. Bbstacker, excellent! hope to know by mid-week or so what our lodging arrangements are in Vegas on Thu night. Fri night you can stay here at the fabulous ThunderDome - pack a sleeping bag or bedroll. Sat night we'll be camping at Ocotillo Wells. be sure to bring something to offer up to Buelling Man. judging from your profile i think you know what i mean... Iamike, Oktoberfast '05 is most definitely ON, see thread in Storm Fronts, taking place literally right on the heels of FBRAT. would be cool to have you join up somewhere along the line, but somehow i sense we might get you in trouble. right Alex??? Hey I survived four days in Newfoundland with young Alex, my son, Newfie, Grndskeeper and OZ. How could it be much worse? I did find out about Screech & Coke though. If my wife didn't work at a school we would just take vacation then. Since she has all summer off she doesn't quite understand. |

Jerry...Here is your route from Waterloo IA to Kansas City MO...Gotta tell you that from Waterloo to the MO border pretty much sucks...The only good roads in IA run along the Mississippi River far to the east...So when you hit MO 149 you'll notice almost an immediate change in that there will begin to be a few twisties...And MO 87 is a pretty good run down to the Missouri River...As you'd guess the bottom part of that is the best...But I've kept you off the interstate until just south of Boonville MO...Then I'm glad it is you and not me until you sight the Rockies... Jerry and Blake...It would be kinda neat if when Jerry has his itinerary pretty much finalized you would please post it at the top of the page with expected overnight stops and dates/times... Have fun, Bob Waterloo IA to Kansas City MO Mileage...407.7 Miles From the intersection of US 63 and US 218 0.0 S onto US 63 Waterloo IA 0.0 R onto IA 137 Eddyville IA 109.3 S onto IA 5 Albia IA 123.7 L onto CR T30 To Exline IA 151.0 S onto MO 149 MISSOURI STATE LINE 157.3 R onto MO 6 / MO 149 Novinger MO 188.9 L onto MO K 189.1 R onto MO 11 197.9 L onto MO 149 202.4 R onto US 36 Cambria MO 229.6 L onto MO 129 231.9 R onto US 24 / MO 129 Salisbury MO 258.1 R onto MO 5 261.3 R onto MO 240 Glasgow MO 274.8 L onto MO 87 Glasgow MO 275.4 R onto US 40 295.4 R onto I-70 299.8 L onto I-470 386.2 R onto US 71 402.2 L onto MO 150 Grandview MO 407.4 L onto Gails Harley-Davidson / Buell 407.7 R = Right turn L = Left turn S = Straight |

Ferris, Since Spidey will be attending part of the festivities, the Screech stash will be brought along... Shiver is right. I will be doing my recon rides this week and will get something posted. Dave will be doing half, I've got the other half. Trouble doesn't even begin to explain it. Alex |

This screech I keep hearing about is making me wonder. I remember being stationed in the airforce in illinois, and guys bringing something on base they called screech, but not sure if its the same thing, guess I will find out labor day weekend when I come out there with spidey. |

This Screech is genuine Newfoundland Rum, doubt you'd find it in IL other than at my house. Last time Newfie tried to mail some down here, he couldn't, it was considered a hazardous substance. So... You'll just have to head to Newfoundland and smuggle some back! |

"hazardous substance" describes most of the people who've posted on this thread... |

Still soliciting suggestions from the Vegas Buellers section on "meetup.com" wrt a place to stay that will give us our required balcony on the second floor. Apparently that may be difficult though... I hear a lot of places removed their balconies on the strip due to suicide jumpers... We'll see though. So far I've got the "Stratosphere" and the "Boardwalk" was suitable suggestions. I'm waiting for Ron to make some more suggestions and then we'll make some calls and set up a route. |

Spoke to Don Lansing, the owner of the Field of Dreams this afternoon, we're game for some very unique photo ops at the field. Turns out he retired from the same Deere plant I work at. Too cool! I've got about 50 miles of my end of the trip planned, have about another 90 or so to figure out between tomorrow and Wednesday. Details will be posted this week. Alex Ferris, it's a good thing you're on the other coast or I'd be in trouble at least once a month |

Jerry...Plan on me meeting you somewhere along the route in Glasgow MO on Monday, September 5...This will put us together for the run down to the Missouri River on the only real good (not great, mind you) road on this whole route...Actually I've never been north of Glasgow and relied on our club's state director in Iowa for the route down into Missouri...I'll be interested to hear your road report at lunch on the 5th...We meet up at least once a year when Jim brings his gals and guys down from the never, never land that is Iowa to ride the Missouri Ozark roads over a long weekend...We meet up with them each time in Glasgow or Boonville... John has to work each and every holiday in the business he's in so he won't be able to join us...I'm hoping to convince Josh and maybe Kevin Lacostelo to join us... Jeff in KC...Take a look at your map and see if you guys want to meet us in Glasgow and escort Jerry on to KC...Maybe you can figure a better route from Boonville to KC... See you on the 5th, Bob |

Are you sure the balconies are gone due to jumpers? I remember this one time we got some water balloons and....nevermind. I've said too much. |

Ferris...will see U at Ocotillo Wells. Maybe with dirt bike, but not sure. I am having double hernia surgery on 8/24 (hey, maybe U will be working on my case later, LOL), so not sure if I will be ready for extreme dirt bike riding. For sure, I will have Ebears camping crap, my camping stuff, and a cooler for beer...the best darn beer bottled right here in a little Micro Brewery in Duarte, CA. They call it...MILLER LITE....LOL |

OK Ferris. Been kickin' around some ideas on favorite roads and these seem to keep standing out (in no particular order): De Luz (twisty dirt or paved), Killen Trail (one-lane twisty dirt & part paved), Ortega (twisty fast), Sepulveda Tunnel (half mile echo chamber), PCH (sun, surf, tan lines), Fernwood-Pacific (tight twisty), Tuna Cyn (tight twisty one-lane 36% downhill {dead-engine race?}), Piuma (2nd & 3rd gear sweepers), Rambla-Pacifico (twisty steep uphill), Latigo (road testers twisty road), Mulholland, Potrero, Balcom Cyn (steep downhill), Hwys 150 & 192 to Santa Bobba. Prolly way too much zigging 'n zaggin' to do in one day once we get near Malibu but hey... like my helmet sticker says, "So many roads, so little time"! Al & Ebear, from this shopping list, let's pick out the funnest roads and what we really can do, given any time constraints and what not. Sparky |

Ferris, Ebear has all the data for the Wrightwood to Palomar to Ocotillo leg. We rode all of it to Palomar over the weekend. From Palomar, we'll backtrack to the Hideout, take Mesa Grande road over to 78 at Santa Isabel, go up thru Julian, down banner grade, and out to Ocotillo wells. The next day, we'll get a relatively early start, head over to Borrego Springs, up the mountain, up to 79, up thru Rancho California, Pick up deluz road to Killen trail (I need to ride it to see if it is open yet from all the washouts this past winter). We drive right thru the Wildomar OHV area, so a gratuitis dirt shot or two is likely there. From there, up Killen trail to Hells Kitchen. We'll make Hell's kitchen by 10:30am or so. The SoCal BRAG group will be waiting there. A shorter than usual meeting will occur, some photo ops and eats, and any of the group that wants to join the ride will pick up from there. From there, Ortega hiway west and Sparky/ebear will take over guidance control. Al |
