Check out this electric drag bike video. It sort of lives up to its name.

Makes me wonder how much riding experience he had. He's lucky he walked away from that one.

An accident while showing off is multiplied by the number of people watching, throw in a video camera, and the multiplier is almost off the charts.

I wonder how many tickets you get for doing a burnout on a public sidewalk, not wearing a helmet, and hitting someone's car with an unlicensed and unregistered vehicle?

He's lucky he didn't hurt anyone besides himself.

Chadr81: I didn't see him walking away from that at all. Carried away is more like it...

What was he thinking pointing the bike straight at the minivan like that? Plus, as off-kilter as the bike was when he let the brake go makes me wonder how much experience he has riding the thing. Nice safety gear too. Just goes to show you, no matter how much education you have, you can still be a bonehead sometimes. I love that bike though. Impressive stats.

> It also has a top speed of 158 MPH

I bet it tops out much higher than that. 158 is just what it traps in the 1/4 mile. That's probably a mid 8 second run.

The 60-0 time in that video was really impressive, but it probably isn't practical to park a mini van at the end of every track.

Actually I am very familiar with the LA Convention Center and if that van wasn't there he would have shot straight through the valet parking area and possibly hit something else or people, that part of the CC is very busy, I am surprised he didn't hit someone.

My first thought when I saw this

"That'll buff right out"

I can't believe that this guy road the thing. He paid for it (30-40k), had a professional rider, so he obviously knew what it was capable of.

Oh well he is now an internet celebrity.

Government scientist? Just goes to prove no matter how much education we have, you can't teach the little Bubba out of the human psyche. Because of his PHd, he at least knew not to say, "Hey ya'll, watch this!" I saw a friend who will remain nameless do the same thing out of his garage and into is wife's car. Should make him feel better that so well educated individuals are prone to the same. I have not done a burn out since.

One last note, how can a guy so smart, operate a motorcycle without gear. He is lucky he did not kill himself.

Here is an update for you guys from Bill's blog (http://www.killacycle.com/):

I’m Fine (scapes and cuts) Bike is a little bent….
First off, I’m just a bit scraped up. Embarrassed of course. I had not intended the bike to move in the soapy water, just spin the tire.

Got it slowed down to about 20 mph. Front wheel is bent, as are front forks. Cowling is not nearly as pretty as it was.
Battery box took a hit from the front wheel. Almost certainly, some cells were shorted. No smoke. No fire. Ultra safe cells. Had these been anything but A123 Systems Nano-phosphate cells, shorts would have caused a serious fire.

No major damage. We will have it fixed in short order.

Important to note: Area in front of the bike was CLEARED of ALL PEOPLE. NO ONE was at risk but me. Concrete on both sides of area.

Yes, I am an idiot for not wearing a helmet. :-/

I found another site with some videos of the bike working properly as well as a video of another malfunction...

I'd blame this guy for making electricity too powerful to use in a bike.
