I would like a cruiser to compliment my XB9. I can only stomach about two hours on the Buell. Plus, the girl hates riding on the back of the Buell. She claims it hurts her back. I would like something a little more comfortable for longer rides and something the girl can ride on. I test rode an 06' VRSC at the dealer a week or two ago. I loved the bike. But I would like to know what everyone here thinks of the VRSC. I really value the overall opinion at BWB. This forum is what swayed me to buy a Buell. So come on, what do you guys think of the VROD. |

The motor is a real treat, comfort wasn't good for passengers. The rear footpegs seem to be in the wrong spot for everyone that sits back there. It really does fit women very well as riders tho. I hate the solid disc whells as they cause some wandering in wind. Get the models with the 5 gallon tanks or you will be filling up often. All in all a fine motor wrapped up in an ok motorcycle. Nothing that can't be fixed in the aftermarket. |

I ride with a cat from work with one. He's got to fill up twice as much as me on my X1. 5 Gallon difinately. He doesnt like stock position of the foot pegs, passenger or rider. Seem like they are in the way when you stop and put your feet down. Passenger isnt quite right either, from his girls perspective. Had it 1 year and already trading away. Look closely. |

"Thinking of a V-Rod - any comments?" Welcome to the club brother! I'm picking up a 100th Anniversary, 2003, 1800 miles and loaded. The only question now is if I keep the Lightning. If I can't get 5, she's staying with me. |

Buellinachinashop, My girl wanted me trade my Buell because "we dont need two motorcycles". What does she know?? I plan on keeping the Buell. The VRSC, or any cruiser for that matter, is know where near as fun to ride than my Buell. I love cutting corners, twisty roads, etc. As far as the other comments, thanks!! I can say that I did notice a little wierdness when it came to the foot peg location. But after two hours on a Buell, anything a little more stretched out is a comfort. I hate the disc wheels!! If I was to buy a bike with discs, they would be the first thing to go. As far as the seat and pegs for the passenger, my girl is small - 5'3" at 120lbs. I would need a gunfighter seat (Corbin) with a back rest. Thanks for the coments and keep them coming!! |

I think if you did some poking around on VR boards, the same comments would surface...foot pegs, gas tank and seat. My gf rode on the bike I'm buying and said Corbin is the way to go. The rear suspension on the VR's is easily adjusted, that helps a passenger's keester alot. |

Honda VTX1800 or the vulcan meanstreak http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/Detail.aspx?id=210&content=photos IMO a vrod isn't a harley and it doesn't qualify harley prices. But if you find a good deal.. (Message edited by ryker77 on August 22, 2007) |

"I guess you think the 1125r is a Buell right?" But the price is right for the 1125r. The vrod is a $$$$15k bike. Other bikes offer the same riding look just without the HD name. Yes the v-rod in stock form is quicker than other bikes in stock form. My question is how much of a differance in aftermarket performance parts prices is there? V-Rod is still class shoot-out leader. Who makes more HP??.... sure about that?? A couple grand less for the VTX. Look and see what a 2002 VTX is worth then look at a 2002 V-rod....still worth 12 -13 grand. Sorry the V-Rod is still the bad ass of the cruisers. |

I can only comment on the '03 VRSCB version. 18K miles, no failures than the maxifuse blew a few times. They have no lean angle (I guess the Street Rod gives you plenty more, but I've not ridden on.) They don't hold enough gas for slabbing. You can scrape radiator covers and stock exhaust easily. Passenger seems to complain -- alot. Pretty freaking fast for a cruiser. They do hold some resale, but you have to really find someone looking for one -- much akin to our beloved Buells I guess,,,dunno. Hit Dave the bowhunting long haired dude and ask him what exhaust he sold me for mine -- it was sick, totally sounded obnoxiously sick in a good way Force something or the other. |

doesn't the v-max out hp the v-rod? For that style of bike I like the Road Star Warrior, as long as the exhaust is swapped for something that is smaller than a grain silo tipped on it's side. But that's just me. I still prefer my firebolt though and since I can only afford one bike right now that's the one for me. FWIW forward controls have never felt right to me. The Street-rod is the best of the v-rods IMHO. |

Brian The V-Max has no comp. Its a V-4. It rules a roost all by itself. |

Hey Dana, The V-max usually included with the "power cruiser" class since that's the niche it created way back in 86, albeit with a little asterisk noting that it is a v-4. It's a seriously fun bike...on straight roads. curves are not it's forte. For twin cruisers the V-rod is indeed the most powerful, but that is narrowing things down an awful lot, kind of like every car ad on TV claiming "most powerful in it's class" when you read the fine print they are classifying the cars/trucks by weight of all things! I mean, who goes in and says I want a sedan in the 4200 lb range? It's a marketing gimmick. nothing more. They artificially narrowed the field. You don't think that people looking to buy power cruisers automatically dis-include the v-max because it isn't a twin do you? If you want the fastest cruiser out there the V-max is still it after 21 years and has received only minor changes. In a market that changes as fast as motorcycles do that is nothing short of a miracle. I looked seriously at the v-max before finally deciding that the Buell was (and is) the right bike for me. I looked at the competition too, but I've dug the v-max since I was in high school! |

Brian,I know all about the Max. Trust me....I owned a 1986. Bought new in 1987. If you gonna put the Max in a class of twin's then you should include a Dyna Low Rider or a Fat Boy. But those are not performance V twins like the a VTX or warrior. The Max just has never had a class. And back in the 80's when it came out in 85. It was classified as a Muscle Bike not a cruiser. Its a high ten second bruiser. Please don't disrespect Max by putting in the class of a VTX or a even a V-Rod. I'll own one again one day. Have to be a 85 or 86 though. Up on HP and all the emission crap is at a minimum. It funny you say back in High School. I felt the same way. I bought mine just 2 years out of school.Owned it till 91.Sold it GSXR. |

The V-Rod is very much a Harley IMO. I have the documentary from Discovery channel and its awesome, I bet the Japs don't develop bikes in the way HD does! Just because the engine was developed at Porsche doesn't make it any less of a Harley! I'd own one! The wheels on these puppies are made in South Australia! |

V-rod doesn't tip over far enough for me. Great motor, brakes, running gear. Lacks cornering clearance. Street Rod was my favourite Harley. Damn fine bike. |

"The Street-rod is the best of the v-rods IMHO." The Street-Rod is the best motorcycle Harley-Davidson ever made. It's the fastest, best handling bike in it's class and it's been discontinued because of lack of activity on the showroom floor (sales). Why am I not surprised? |

V-rod is supposed to be a great bike. However, in going to a cruiser, from your XB9, be prepared for some culture shock. I would strongly suggest that you rent a V-rod or other such cruiser to make sure that's what you want to do. Goofy as some think it looks; the Ulysses is popular with female pillion riders. And the best part is it's still a Buell. |

if you want a fun motorcycle for riding, why not test ride a Buell Ulysses? Performance, Handling, & Comfort all in one motorcycle! I rode V-Rods and wouldn't even think of trading my Uly for one! |
