Ok this past weekend, Me and a couple other fellow riders rode up to American HD in Ann Arbor and took some new Buells out on a couple demo rides.

They had a TT, 9SX, and a 12R. I didn't ride the 9SX (too small for my taste). I did take a nice 20 minute or more ride on the TT and 12R. Man are these bikes much more confident inspiring bikes over the Tubers. WOW! The TT is great comfort bike for someone w/ my height and inseam. 6'3". but the seat to me wasnt' all that great. sliding all over but still very easy to carve up the corners. I immediatly jumped to the 12R.. Black w/ Red accents.. WOW! The position difference is very apparent right off the bat.. and you can feel the bike much more to me. Well this ride there were only two of us on bikes vs 7-8 on the previous run. so we were able to go through the corners w/ a bit more aggresive feel. HOLY CRAP!!! WHAT A BIKE!

I now know that the 12R is the bike for me, but I run into a couple problems.

1) I gotta get rid of my X1WL. If anyone knows someone that might be interested in a Tuber... let them know.. I GOTS ONE!!!

2) once the X1 is sold, then I need to pick a color. Usually over the past 6 years Buell has put out color choices that in my mind, one has usually stood out over the others (not spacific colors just one out shines the others), this year however that is not the case.. I love the Black w/ Red, but the YELLOW is FREAKING AWESOME too..

of course next year the colors might be differnt. DANG YOU ERIK BUELL DANG YOU!!!!

ok that is all just had to share my story..

Oh yeah got the bag too.. nice..

Be prepared for a knock on the door at 3am from the Buell Fundamentalists lol

My local shop has a yellow Firebolt, I'd choose that colour any day unless we get a Tango Orange Firebolt in July

Enjoy your new bike !

I have owned my X1 since new. I love the bike very much.. not in the literall sense..SPIDY.. but once I rode the 12R it is much more responsive over my tuber. Which is what you would expect from a standpoint of a 5-6 year differnce in inovation and improvements. just like comapring my 2001 Dodge Ram vs a 2006 Ram. I love my 2001, but the 2006 is much more improved. I will enjoy it, when I get it... dang it. I am not a patient Man

Blackbelt- I concur with your assessment of the XB's versus the tube framers. I've still got my S3, but I've ridden it exactly once since I got my Uly. The tubers are neat bikes, but the XB's seem like a quantum leap forward.

(BTW, my 2000 S3 is also for sale if anybody's in the market. Check the classifieds, if it hasn't been pushed off the page yet...)

Blackbelt...when i got my '05 12r i ultimately kept the '99 X1 because i'd take a beating...They're worthless from the cash return standpoint.Keep it and you'll have both an old skool AND XB....

Since the tuber value is so low, convince her that your just waiting for the right buyer to come along. But you got to get the XB right now, while they still have them in stock. All you got to do is sell that idea.............GOOD LUCK on that.LOL

My wife said if I wanted a XB that I would have to get rid of the X1. Just got my new black and red Firebolt this past Saturday. It is a totally different feel than the tuber.

I concur as well. Bought an STT about a month ago. Don't think I'll be riding the S3T much any more : )

The Tubers are still very capable bikes. But the XBs are just easier to ride faster IMHO. I still like my S3T immensely. But I just don't see myself riding it much any more.

I think I'll tear it down this winter and repaint it, and freshen her up a bit.

Hey Rainman,
Did you make the Bob Seger association with Ann Arbor or was it just an accident?
