Just picked up an '85 CB700SC for my wife. It needs tires. Can you put radials on these things? Also, they are only 16" rims...any tire suggestions? |

That's a NightHawk right? I think you can put radials on, I don't know why not, unless you can't find 16" radial tires. |

I think that's the problem- you generally can't find suitable radial tires to fit on rims designed for bias ply tires. Some bikes from that era (Honda Hawk GT's IIRC) are exceptions. If you do find a radial that looks like it'll work, make sure you take into account both the diameter and the recommended wheel width. Even if you can't go with radials, there are some decent bias ply tires out there. (Message edited by hughlysses on April 09, 2007) |

I have an 83 CB550SC, also of the nighthawk family, and I put bias-ply tires on it. I really like the Maxxis ProMaxx. |

According to the information pages on the Dunlop site, you shouldn't install radials on a bike originally designed for bias ply tires. |

Yeah...tire and motorcycle manufacturers like to say that it'll over stress a chassis designed for bias ply's. I've heard of some older frames cracking under race use, but never anything under normal useage. |

I decided to stay with bias ply. I put on some Dunlop GT501's today. They work pretty well. |
