today, she jumped off a desk or a chair today (depends on which kid you ask)and tried to land in a beanbag chair and missed and has a Buckle Fracture in the two bones in the arm above her wrist. The Practitioneer asked, when I told him she tried to fly, how far did she get, I said, in my best Ron White immitation, "All the way to the scene of the crash." Yes, the whole story is true, now she won't be in ballett any more, ride her bike or a scooter. The bike and scooter thing isn't a big deal, but the telling her she can't because her arm is broke will be a problem. Today she asked why she had to wear a cast and a sling. KIDS! | ||

Poor kid, I guess it is all part of growing up... I just hope the Dr. doesn't call social services on you. You know how over reactive they can be.  | ||

I hope she is OK. The little one's bones fortunately heal quickly. She will be flying (or trying) again in no time. | ||

sorry to hear that she really couldn't fly and although there are worse things that could have come out of it, thank god that it was just a broken bone. wife had to rush the son when he wasn't much older than that to the hospital because of a gash in his thigh. just make sure that you get enough people to sign it to make her feel special. | ||

from the stories i've been told it appears that i did the same at that age, with a similar outcome. apparently i could not fly. does she take after her dad?  | ||

Flying like this?  That is my three year old trying to fly and land on me this last Christmas. She landed safely and I was able to get out of the way with the camera. | ||

Too bad you didn't get the real story... kids will just tell you what they think will get them in the least trouble... like the time I put a hole in the sheetrock of my parent's house. I told my dad my head went through the wall when I tripped in the hallway and he believed me. It sounds like there may have been some sort of trebuchet or catapult, or something else that can fling a kid, involved... perhaps like the atomic seesaw we built in the hallway that smashed my head through the sheetrock, way back then. | ||

Well, now that she knows she can't fly, make sure ya tell/teach her that umbrella's DO NOT work az parachutes either. I learned that one the hard way, he he he, oh sure I can laugh about it now,40 years later. | ||

umbrella's DO NOT work az parachutes ...neither do Hefty bags, tarps, blankets, or 18-wheeler mudflaps. I also know that 30' is NOT low-Earth orbit and cats DO NOT make good astronauts! Hope the little tyke gets well soon! | ||

Take it from someone who knows, the flight is not the problem, it's the landing. She probably figured that part by now. I hope she recovers quickly. (Message edited by M2nc on April 10, 2007) | ||

Think back, guys - weren't you ALL at least into your middle teens before you came to the conclusion that just maybe it WASN'T possible to fly? I still test it occasionally, with varying results. (& I just turned 55 today!) I'm betting she'll heal fast, and use this as a lesson to help perfect her landing techniques. AL | ||

Keep her flying Cochise, before you know it, you may be thrilled to see her fly over the catcher and safe at home!! She can fly anywhere she wants to go. But yeah, make sure she learns how to land safely. You will find yourself being her safest landing zone when she gets a bit older, you just THINK broken bones are tough. Danny, Tbolt& Leftcoastal reminded me why my knees hurt so much. Rotzaruck!!! | ||

Glad she going to be o.K and wasn't hurt to bad Cochise, she looks like a sweetie pie. My eleven year old daughter tried to fly once when she was about three. She tried only ONCE....and my 18 month old son has no fear of heights and like to climb anything.....The other day he pulled himself up on his Z50R. I may have bought the bike a little early. I thought it was a great present for his 1st birthday  Mkenn, That pic is priceless.... | ||

Shred, looks like you and I are going to be in the same boat as these guys. I just picked up a PW50 for my two year old. Tax returns are picking up the training wheels for it. She'll have plenty of time this summer on it, and I'm sure plenty of injuries to come in the next few years. | ||
