Well, my mother's (did he say mother? Yes, my mother does ride. She even has the shirt that says "This bitch has her own bike) Low Rider needs a new rear tire before our trip. Anyone recommend a good tire?

Metzler ME 880's
Change the set and she'll think her bike has been replaced with one that actually HANDLES!
The Metzlers are so much better than the stock Dunlops as to be un-comparable. (Is that a word?) I cajole, blackmail, threaten all my friends and associates that have Harleys into using the Metzlers and they all have thanked me for it after riding on them.
Hey Metzler - How about a little kick-back or something for all my good work? anyone listenin'?

I run Avon Venom-X on my Harley. Great mileage and stick well in the wet.

Left, how good is the millage on the Metzler's vs. the Avon? Also, wet traction?

I think the Avons will get better mileage than the Metzlers, as they are (depending on which ones are being used, of course) usually a harder compound. Wet traction is good on the Metzlers, though I rarely ride in the rain as it NEVER rains in southern California. I've had a set of the Avons, and they were great tires, though I like the Metzlers better as I frequently ride the RoadKing in a manner that if done on the stock Dunlops, or even the Avons, would cause loss of directional stability and vehicle control, if ya get my "drift". The Metzlers just plain stick better in my opinion.
