Steve,
The British are among the toughest people on Earth. Your survival and will to fight against those who seek to destroy you is truly epic and legendary. Thanks for passing that admirable trait on to the colonies. : ) If I have anything to say about it, America will always be right there to back you up whenever you ask.

Charlie,
Who is a muslim hater? Are you implying that anyone here is a mulsim hater? I'm not. As to your your so-called "little fact"... Please be careful taking anything you read in USNAWR as fact.

Here's the fallacy of that inane prediction illustrated by an even more extreme though much more interesting example.

From 1994 through 1998 Buell was America's fastest growing sport bike manufacturer. Extrapolating from that trend an irresponsible person might conclude that by the year 2050, the majority of sport bikes in America will be Buells.

See the problem with that? If you start with one muslim at year one and by year two have two muslims, then can you assume that the number of muslims will double each year? Answer... Of course not. However, the people who provided the information for your US News and Special Report stats would. Not only is their extrapolation egregiously flawed but if you take away all the millions of muslims who immigrated to the United States of America you then take away the majority of growth of the religion here. Not sure we are going to once again allow muslims to immigrate as freely as they were allowed to in the multicultural giddiness that was the 1990's.

Muslims outnumber protestants in the US??? Maybe in the world. Certainly not in the US. Then again, if you break muslims into their sunni and shia sects, I doubt that neither outnumber protestants. Maybe if you compare them to "Methodists" you can show that more sunnis exist than Methodists. Kinda silly.

The truth is that it is kinda tough to guage the true number of muslims in the world when so many muslim nations oppress and stifle all other religions. Of course that practice is in perfect adherence to the muslim religion as prescribed by the koran.

Here's another interesting fact, when muslim groups estimate how many of their religion are US citizens they simply count up all the peoples of Arab/Iranian/Indonesian decent living in America. Ooops. Many of our hard working immigrants from muslim dominated areas of the world are not muslim. So while the muslim appologists will claim say 7 million practitioners of their religion in the USA, the truth is that there may be closer to 2 million, less than 1% of our population.

We ignore the truth about islam and especially the wahabi islamists at our own peril. Being vigilant and suspicious is not hate. It is common sense.

I do not believe Muslims outnumber "christendom" in the world either, although I need to back that up with a legit resource citation.

And FYI Charlie, the backlash against muslims was amazingly negligible here in America. President Bush had American muslim leaders to the White House proclaiming islam a religion of peace; only a handfull of hate crimes were perpetrated against muslims in America.

Here's a little fact I find very telling. Maybe it will help you sorth things out too...

When Salman Rushdie released his book "Satanic Verses" which was critical of some disturbing contents of the Koran, THE muslim holy book, the mullahs of Iran and elsewhere issued a fatwah, an official islamic declaration, calling for his murder. That fatwah has never been repealed.

When al qaeda under OBL and others murdered thousands of civilians, the mullahs issue not a single fatwah against OBL or al qaeda.

Wake up.

Steve Shakeshaft,

Did you read the account of the young (18 year old) British muslim who was approached by terrorists trying to seduce him into becoming a suicide bomber? After two weeks of intense hard sell and wining and dining so to speak, he decided in favor of coninuing his life on earth versus the terrorists' promise of eternity having sex with 72 virgins surrounded by diamonds.

I've nothing to add. What Blake has posted is spot on.

I hope the Brits have the steel and resolve and determination to defend their way of life. They are going to need it.

It would be interesting to see the reaction of the Liberal Press if the new Pope came out with the equivilant of a "fatwah" against anyone!

Back on topic...

quote:

As the London News Review, not known for showing much support for President Bush or Tony Blair, put it, with a Londoner's characteristic taste for the Anglo-Saxon, in a "Letter to the Terrorists":

"If this is a message to Tony Blair, we've got news for you. We don't much like our government ourselves, or what they do in our name. But, listen very clearly. We'll deal with that ourselves. We're London, and we've got our own way of doing things, and it doesn't involve tossing bombs around where innocent people are going about their lives. And that's because we're better than you. Everyone is better than you. . . . So you can pack up your bombs, put them in your a--holes, and get the f--out of our city."

From The Weekly Standard. Good stuff.

3 of the radicalized bombers came from West Yorkshire.

It's big TV news in my region.

About 8 hours ago yet another street in Leeds was hidden behind tarpaulins as the police search another property. There are several similar operations in hand in close proximity. It was reported from Leeds this week that unstable quantities of acetone peroxide have been found in a car boot and in one of the searched properties .

There's no doubt that the information we're given is accurate and further more the efforts of the police and security forces is first class but there's a much more alarming scenario concerning the British people right now and it's also based on reported information during the past few days.

How come these young men were made capable of bombing the softest target of all in Britain - people commuting to work on public transport? It is hard to comprehend this when we see and hear the stories reported about these young mens backgrounds. All of them it is said were good kids. One worked in school teaching young children with 'special needs'. Some parents were interview about this teacher turned bomber and they all said he was the guy who really went out of his way to help the kids. His fellow teachers spoke of how wonderful a teacher and a person he was. One of the other bombers has a baby of a few months to a 22 year old wife. She is demanding the police provide her with DNA evidence of her husbands involvement she's that convinced he's not one of the bombers.

If these ordinary hard working young men can be turned into suicide bombers without even their closest of family members knowing what chance is there of stopping this happening again.

Peace love and understanding.

Blake (and all) indeed. Those crazy "mad mullahs" are seducing these young muslims with stories of sex, immortality and greed.

And just remind me, what is it they say about us decadent westerners? It stinks.

Fortunately for us, the UK is priviledged to be home to a couple of million muslim citizens who want nothing but democracy, peace and wealth for their country and fellow citizens.

Charlie,

Just a an observation:
If we look at attacks on U.S. and U.S. allies........ Not all Muslims are Terrorists, but so far, all terrorists are Muslims.

They have not succeeded in making me change my ways in my daily life, except for one thing. They have made me suspicious of every person I meet of Middle Eastern decent. Not only have they hurt themselves, they have hurt other innocents with their cowardly acts.

I am proud of our British allies and pray for the families affected by these acts of terrorism in the name of Islam. Subway bombings will not defeat the Brits. It will only unite them (and US!).

As Court would say, That's an inaccurate statement, we've had bombers of nearly every religious & political persuasion you can think of in Europe.

As for the newspapers, they're dead right, that's always been our attitude in Britain.

You ain't going to beat us so just off!

Craig -- you are missing a nunmber of groups -- Bader-Meihoff, IRA, SETA (I think I got that right, the Basque Separatist movement) to name just a few

here in the states, the terrorism hasn't been limited to Muslim Extremists, either -- Oklahoma City comes to mind

loonie-ness truly knows no bounds, cultural, religous, political . . .

"If we look at attacks on U.S. and U.S. allies........ Not all Muslims are Terrorists, but so far, all terrorists are Muslims."

Not true... Oklahoma City was a terror attack. Lets be careful who we label the terrorists. There are other terror groups as well as the danger of domestic terrorism. I, and my brothers in arms are studying these folks daily; and they're recruiting.

Blake,
I don't know if I pushed a button with you or what but your posts seem to show some irritation? I called no one here Muslim hater nor did I say, "Blake's a muslim hater!". I know the backlash was not extreme, and I am glad for it, but I bet it still sucked being spit on coming out of a Mosque or being beaten in the street. I bet it still sucked for the guy who took the beating. I know you can derive whatever you like from statistics and that's why I regret posing a statistic. They're useless in an arguement. All I meant there was that WE, as Americans need to be aware of the growing Muslim segment of our society. I'm not trying to validate a statistic, as I said, it's just something I read...

I've reworded my original post to better convey what I meant...

A statistic I pulled from a US News Special Report said that in the United States: Muslims already outnumber protestants. By 2050, if the rate of converting continues, Muslims will make up the majority religion in the US.

I think it's baloney but it's something to think about...as the muslim population grows, what affect will it have?

Better?

On topic...

Brits kick !

Charlie,

Glad to know you recognize such crap as crap. More muslims in America than protestants. That is beyond unbelievably absurd. Suggest you check that again. Pretty sure you will find it was not America, but the world that statistic addressed. There are only around 2-3 million muslims in America. There are tens of millions of protestants, maybe a hundred million or more. for crying out loud we have over 50 protestant churches here in Kilgore, Texas and not a single muslim mosque. Good grief, that USNWR info is just ridiculous. How can anyone be that horribly out of touch with reality? And they probably vote too. Scary thought eh?
