This is a picture of a friends 1972 Triumph TR6.He finally finished this winter.The thing isn't the fastest but its sure a blast to drive.

i'm sure it is a fun little ride. those little cars are deceivingly (sp) fast. meaning they feel a lot faster. toyota MR2 is that way. handles so quickly, it feels much faster.

Your friend sure does nice work. Pretty impressive detailing in the engine compartment.

VERY NICE! The TR-6 was the first convertible I lusted for when I was in high school. While the rest of the jocks and in-crowd were busy with their Z-28's and Trans-ams I had a thang for a little British car. Go figure I'd end up on a Buell 20 yrs later! I guess I've always been a little "different".

Cool TR, I had a number of buggies from across the pond during and after high screwel. My first love was my 64 TR4. The engine was pretty radical. 12.5 to 1 CR, a VERY bumpy cam. I always ran Sonoco 260 (yes, I'm that old) and still had to rev the crap out of it while driving through town, or it would load up. Then one night in June 1977, I tried my hand at tree removal with the TR. Didn't work! My 73 Triumph GT6 MKIII was my next fav car. 70 MG BGT and 70 Opal GT after that. I always wanted an Austin-Healey 3000 or 100-6. Never got either

Toomanytoys-you got an MR2? I was given one about 3 months ago, Like the TR6 it may not be the fastest thing on the road but man is it fun. Feels almost like a go-cart. Are those turbo's i see on that car? I don't know much about them, Yes I was the z-28 guy minus the jock thing.

U4euh, no those are the carbs and a handcrafted air box built in Britain for the car.As are the wheels that are on the car about $850.00 a piece.But they do make the car look great.

no MR2 for me. I was in a friends just last weekend, and was amazed at how quick it felt. handles like directed from a laser pointer.

I bought a new car and it handles like a go-cart. It's a funny looking little clown car. Soooo, my wife and I had some fun picking it up.

That TR-6 is TOO clean! My first car in high school was a '59 TR-3A with right-hand steering
(English import), no top (if it rains, drive faster), a broom handle for a gas gauge and what must have been a cape that formerly belonged to an Orc for a carpet! So low I could drag my fingers on the ground as I drove! It was a P.O.S. electrically, but I loved those twin SU carbs. Also was fun to back up through the drive-thru at the bank, fast food joint, etc., so I would be on the correct side to transact business. People would sure give me strange looks. Sucked trying to pull out of a parallel parking spot if there was a car parked behind me, though; couldn't see anything (point and pray). Here's a pic of one similar to mine...

Interesting how you guys cal a TR 6 small!

Over here a TR 6 is regarded as a bit of a hairy balls big sports car because of its size and partly because of it's straight 6 motor.

I owned a TR 6 myself for about a week once. Sold it to a friend about 17 years ago. He set about restoring it soon after. To this day he still owns it and the rolling chassis is mint, and moth balled in a time capsule it seems. Basically he waited years to get new genuine Triumph body panels to complete the perfect restoration, by which time once acquired he'd moved on to other things, but not before he'd completed the rolling chassis rebuild.

I'm sure he'll finish it one day but right now his Series 1 1/2 f.h.c . E type is getting all the spare time attention and believe me a year ago it was a total stripped bare monocoque. Today it's a shell with most body panels fitted and the front sub frame tubes bolted on. But then my friend is a perfectionist when it comes to cars, so it will be years yet before finish.

Me, I'm a TVR fan and hope to have mine up and running this summer, but then again I'm not looking for perfection. Mine will be used everyday even through winter. Gotta love a plastic body right

Nice job Bad,

Just go's to show there's no accounting for taste, I prefer old Dodge pickups with V8s in em.

One little warning though, if you have the overdrive box in it, NO drag starts! it kills the overdrive unit very quickly & they're becoming hard to find in good nick.

There's lots of bits still available though.

We are in the process of procuring a British convertable, either a Triumph or MG. I have a soft spot for MG Midgets, and she prefers Triumphs. Well, we did both agree on the Sunbeam Tiger that was up for bid on Ebay that sold for a bit more then we had available for the bid...289 V-8 stock : D

I know this may be just crazy, but do the Triumph auto company and the motorbike company have anything n common, or are they seperate entities? Just curious as I am not familiar with their backgrounds in depth.
