Charlie...Never had a problem with the wax plugs in the So Cal deserts even during the hottest months. However, I used a fresh pair every day as they got gnarly riding in the dirt.

Considering the cost of the wax plugs, I switched to ear molds and have been quite happy with them with the exception of the Bone Phone experience on the X1's thin saddle.

Henrik - I probably use about 80-85% of a plug in each ear. That gives me enough to work it around so that some goes into the ear canal and then I press the rest to fill the outer ear area around the canal entrance.

When you use wax to plug your ears, does it grow in quantity over time?

I had to call the doctor last night so he could backup the story I told my wife when she caught me sucking on the tips of my little pink earplugs. joker

I wear earplugs anytime I hit the highway. In town I think there's no harm. I like the rubber style myself.

Hmmm, maybe if you were to just let the ol' ear wax accumulate for long enough...

You'd think she'd be used to your little peculiarities by now. I know mine is.

Kinda off the subject, but I heard the other day from someone who doesn't ride, that earplugs and head phones increase the bacteria in your ear ten fold. Anybody ever get an ear infection from wearing ear plugs for prolonged periods???

DTX- I used to wear them all day at work (I was a heavy equipment operator), and I never had any problems with infections, nor did my co- workers. Thanks everybody for the advice, I have been away for a night because of my Birthday party but this turned into a really informative thread. I think I will try the better quality plugs first.

Wyked- got a link to that windstopper or should I just try a search? On a semi related note, I was cruising for a bit next to a Ducati 999 today- anybody who is still freaked out by all the valve noise etc. your Buell makes, you should hear one of these things... you will be forever cured.
