I've always been a bit of a geek...

I picked up a a set of eDimensional shutter glasses. They tell your graphics card to render one frame for your right eye, then another for your left eye. Alternating with the refresh rate of your monitor, the lenses are either made clear or opaque. This creates a VERY cool 3D effect in games.

If you play PC games at all (and you have a monitor that will put out some high enough refresh rates)... You need a pair of these. I'm using 1024x768@80hz right now and the shutter effect is slightly noticeable. I'll report if it gets annoying. The 3D effect is extremely noticeable.

In the application demo there's an object that literally looks like it's setting on my desk and spinning around. These are really neat.

Doesn't seem to work in either of my newest games and I haven't tried any of the older ones yet... I'm sure some updated drivers or software is in order and it'll be fine...

When I was waiting for may stator to be replaced I had to drive to my BRAG meeting. I had just received my new leathers too. I was bummed to say the least.
I made up for it though, by dragging my knee from the wifes car as I left the SMHD&Buell parking lot. It got a big laugh. I got the idea from the picture above.

That's one of my favorite pics... I have one of a guy hanging off one of those spring mounted animal jobies at a kids park too.

anyway... I tried World of Warcraft last night with this new device...

F'N WOW!

For a bit of silver you can ride a Griffon to different places of the world (the WoW world is HUGE). I spent half of my freakin silver just admiring the new found DEPTH of my monitor. I swear... It looks like my monitor is a good 10 feet deep. It's a bit weird to get used to focusing properly because your eyes are trained to be seeing a 2D image but once you figure it out it's VERY cool.

In WoW the only issue I had is that the mouse cursor is part of the interface, so if you focus at something that's far away, you end up seeing two cursors and the actual cursor position is in the center... It makes it a little tough to target stuff, but I'm sure there will be a fix.

I tried HL2 and found that the interface there is part of the 3D world, so it gets "seperated" and weird looking. I guess there are tweaks to a couple files that will fix this, but I didn't try them. I will soon.

Brother's in Arms - Road to Hill 30 was the same story (it may use the HL2 engine).

So far though, I can w/o doubt say that these shutter glasses are on par with my Thrust Master F16-FLCS and my Logitech MoMo Force steering wheel/pedal set...

Now all I need to do is get on making a cockpit for my racing and flight sims...

Then I need to make a projection TV that'll do 1024X768 resolution (I'll need a 15" LCD that has a failed back light off of Ebay and one of those old overhead projectors you'd see in a high school : )).

Yeah... I'm a geek : ).

Yeah... I do... It would be better if it'd do 360 degree rotation both ways though, then I could use it with a flight sim. I think that just having a 10' projection screen will make me happy though... For a while : ).
