For any of you 70's rockers, Rod Price, founding member and lead guitarist for Foghat died. Evidently he had a massive heart attack, and as a result fell down a bunch of stairs and received a serious head injury. The head injury killed him.

Price was a great slide guitarist. I saw them at "August Jam" at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1974. THAT was a hell of a concert. Foghat lead singer "Lonesome Dave" Peverett died back in 2000.

Slow Ride was one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar.

That is a bummer. Always loved em. Got one of Roger Earls Drumsticks from a concert. Saw them for the last time up in Sturgis. A couple of hours late do to cir. beyond their control, hit the first note and it started to pour. Roger was the only one under a roof. I can't remember if Dave was back in the band then. Anyway, they played the whole set in the pouring rain, it really rocked and made a hellof an impression on me! Rock on Rod, Rock on!

I still remember when Foghat came out at August Jam. I'm not sure who was on before them (maybe "Black Oak Arkansas", remember them?). I remember Lonesome Dave kind of nonchalantly walked out wearing a Les Paul Junior and plugged into a friggin' WALL of HiWatt amps. He was sort of looking down with his back to the amps and kind of casually hit a chord and the sound was AWESOME. He looked up and you could just see the look on his face like "DAMN!". He turned around and looked at the wall of amps and did it again. IIRC (and I probably don't, it's been 31 years!) he started playing "I Just Wanna Make Love to You" and the rest of the band walked out and joined in. It was pretty cool.

I was reading about Rod this afternoon. Sounds like he was a very unassuming guy and all around good Dad. Most of his neighbors evidently didn't even know he'd ever been a rock star. He spent part of his time giving lessons to young kids. That's pretty dang cool.

Man it sucks getting old..
In my minds eye, I still see them(us/me) as a 20 something rocker with an entire lifetime in from of them.
Now it seems way too many folks I know are having problems only "old farts" worry about.

I loved Foghat! I think I may have felt my first boobie listening to a Foghat tune!

Rod now joins a long list of great musicians on that great stage in the sky.

RIP Rod, thanks for the music......

we're losing all the great ones, talent is far and in between compared to the sixties and seventies artists.

I remember in '99 dragging my future wife to a show she had no interest in. The supposed headliner was Eddie Money.. Foghat was there and that's who I was there for. Lonesome Dave looked kind of thin and drawn out (he was obviously in the last stages of his cancer) but once they hit the stage the energy the four of them gave off was infectious, the rollikin' driving blues and the pure energy that Foghat brought to every stage they played. By far they were the best band that day. And most days..

Yes, she had a wonderful time with it, even though she didn't know the music.

Since unlike a lot of folks, they never seemed to think of themselves as 'rock stars'.. they were there because they loved playing the music and you could tell. There almost never seemed to be a bad night to see Foghat.

When I was younger and saw them live for the first time, you got the sense that they were just happy to be there, almost as though they coudln't believe they were playing for an audience.. When they could have easily been part of that audience.. Yeah, that's it.. they were us. Just up there, leading the party! I don't think there will ever be as fun a band as Foghat again.

We miss Dave.. and now, we will miss Rod.

Ride with God guys..
