Is there a host hotel, actually i should ask is the a BRAG discount for the host hotel, or a block of rooms or something you ask for when calling the hotel, or is everybody staying someplace else Just wondering R |

The host hotel link was posted in one of the other Homecoming threads. I'll see if I can find it. I'm staying at home and haven't decided yet if I'm registering, might just do the Friday afternoon thing. Others appear to be looking into local campgrounds, RV sites, other hotels/motels in the area, or staying with family in the area. |

Here is a link to Hotels/Motels in Wisconsin. http://hotel-guides.us/wisconsin/wi-hotels.html West Bend only shows two, but there are many more within 20 miles. So Check your map and have at it. Also, check with the websites for the major motel chains for something in the area. |

If I remember right, $65 for Thurs. and $79 for Fri. and Sat. nights. Not a bad price, less than last year. Be sure to tell them you are a BRAG member and you are booking for the event. |

This is the current info for the Super 8 in West Bend. They show they have one room left and the room rates range from $50 to $60 per night. Play with the sight and see if you can do a prepaid guaranteed reservation. Also, when I ran the numbers, I checked in on June 2nd and out on June 5th. You may have more rooms available if you pick other dates. One last suggestion. There are a lot of small Mom'n'Pop independent motels within a 15 mile radius of West Bend that won't show up on the directories. Perhaps someone in the area can scout them out for you or you can do it yourself as it would make a nice winter time car trip from Chicago. |

There's also a couple privately owned small motels in the neighboring towns like Jackson, Port Washington, Saukville, one between Hartford and North Lake on hwy-83, and others. The one in Port Washington is on hwy-32, but is being kept full by the power plant rebuilding contractors but it sometimes vacates on the weekends. If I get some time I may start stopping in at some of them and get phone numbers, dates, and rates and post what I find as I find it. I also know there is a campground one of my neighbors stays at just east of West Bend and north of hwy-33 someplace, but I don't know the name of it. |

Hotels in and around the Elkhart Lake area are usually booked a year in advance for the races. Most people will reserve their rooms for next year when the leave the hotel. As for myself, I rather not camp. After spending as much time on the bike as expect, a soft bed sound like the way to go. |

As for myself, I rather not camp. After spending as much time on the bike as expect, a soft bed sound like the way to go Puss, book at the super 8 than, go to super8.com, at least that way you have a room, and you can always cancel if you want, i figure its kinda like insurance, better safe than sorry R |

"Do they have cabs in WI?????? " With perhaps more bars per capita than any other region in the nation there are definitely cabs here. Let's see, if I leave my house and drive the 2.2 miles to the grocery store I pass 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 bars, and I've probably missed a few. |

Gusmeister...In case you haven't already checked it out, City Center to City Center, MapQuest says the commute from Appleton to West Bend is 75.08 miles or 1 hour 21 minutes. That might be a little far if you plan on the evening sessions with the BRAG Group in West Bend. Plus, when looking into camping areas, make sure you can ride your bike in late at night. Most have curfews, especially concerning noise. |

I grew up in West Bend. Does anyone know WHY the Homecoming is being hosted there? There are so many more interesting places to gather, like the Dells, Door County, etc. |

I think so, don't know for sure though. There are campgrounds at the park near hwy-83 and I-94 near the lake there, and then there's the one somewhere east of WestBend, beyond that I'm not certain though. I'll do a little checking around over the next few weeks. |

Does anyone know WHY the Homecoming is being hosted there Here's my speculation.... 1) There are 2 races with Buells at Road America this year. 2) It's about 2.5 hours from the Lake Geneva area (past homecomings location) to Elkhart Lake (Road America) 3) That's 5 hours of bike travel per day 4) Different scenary (been in the same area every year) I'm not sure the roads are any better. I've ridden both the upper and lower units of the Kettle Moraine. Both have a TON of fun (but short) roads. Our BRAG chapter will probably work on getting some good "locals" roads together before June. See ya on the flip side of the Gap |

Not sure if it's been mentioned but the BRAG site now has more info You'll start by snaking through the scenic Moraine on Thursday as you head from West Bend to East Troy for lunch at the Buell facility, where you'll eat with the Buell employees in the lunchroom! You'll also get to tour the facility, gaining a first-hand glimpse at Buells as they're made. Have a seat in the conference room to talk with Erik or one of the engineers. Anybody know if you'll be able to pick up your registration packet (or at least be on a pre-registered list) at the factory? We have a group of about 6-8ppl coming up from Deal's Gap. If we have to ride another 3hrs, we'll miss the lunch. |

Lake, Last year you could pickup your packet at each location. So if your first stop will be the factory, you should be able to pick it up there. |
