Actually I was pretty surprised about the questions they asked when I filled out the on-line survey compared to the latest survey I got in the mail, which I threw away. I loved the survey question where they asked where I got most of my Buell information http://www.badweatherbikers.com of course. The real kicker was when they asked about a discussion area. Sure would like to see that puppy materialize but it won’t. If it did, it wouldn’t last very long, they’d get tore up on their poor dealership service over the last 7 years or so and the parts availability scenario. They wouldn’t be able to handle the criticism in a Buell sponsored forum.

What's the controversy all about???

All they did is ask what you liked or disliked about the website and what you do with your riding time. Looks like all they really wanted was to know how to improve the site and make it more attractive for folks to visit more frequently.

About the only bend over and bare all questions had to do if you would buy another Buell. That, and the question about what do you think of this survey were my opportunities to air my feelings.

Would like to see a future survey addressing not only what you did with a bike, but what you want to do with one. Also wouldn't hurt if the asked what type of bike(s) you will be purchasing in the future.

Stevedplummer...All we can expect from Buell is to continue to make replacement OEM parts available for our Tubers.

They never really had much in the line of accessories for them and the aftermarket thankfully is large enough that we can get all the accessories and performance parts we want.

>>>All we can expect from Buell is to continue to make replacement OEM parts available for our Tubers.

That's a patently inaccurate statement.

In fact, I have been nearly hounded with "what would the guys and gals like to have for their tube frame Buells".

The Race ECM's are going back into production as a direct result of Badweb input.

I will ask this AGAIN:

What would you like? In fact, e-mail me your phone number and I'll call and put you smack dab in touch with the fellow working on it.

Buell has begged to know what people want. If we can make a case for it making, or even coming close to, economic sense, there's a good chance.

On the topic of the "Owner Chat Area" how many of you recall when there was one on www.buell.com?

How many of you recall how long it lasted?

Anyone recall why it promptly disappeared?

Ducati and others have tried it. It's one thing when someone gets vulgar or can't behave here. A group of owner/moderators can suspend/ban or whatever. Imagine a large corporate trying to reduce that to "SOP Manual" and administer it.

My bet...and I could be wrong....is that Buell will continue to manufacture motorcycles and get better at it and that Badweb will continue to be THE chat board for info and get better at it.

Just a guess...

I have responded to the survey...hope it works.
Homecoming is also a great time to get with all of the buell enthusiasts and have sessions, pick their brains...small groups, or even large groups. we all like to get involved and help further the brand and be a part of the brand. REX

Court...That is indeed refreshing news.

Apparently, I made an erroneous assumption based on the decreasing number of accessories for the Tuber on the Buell website.

To be perfectly honest with you, I feel that is a normal thing for a manufacturer to do which is why I bought a spare Race ECM for my X1 when the announcement was made via the BWB that they were to be discontinued.

To me, the Race ECM is the heart of the engine and without a replacement available from either Buell or the Aftermarket, I would really be miffed. Ergo, it is one of the few accessories that I consider should remain in the line as long as Buell supports the Tubers with replacement OEM parts. I should think accessory seats, bags, and such would be pushing the envelope for Buell, but as long as the profit potential is there, go for it.

Logic tells me that all I should expect from a manufacturer is the OEM replacement parts, not the accessories. In the event that Buell elects to add to the accessory list for the discontinued models, I praise them more than ever!!!

I reponded -- glad to have the opportunity --

also, given my brief experience as an active moderator of this board, I would rather have Buell spending money on bikes and parts than pay for someone to baby-sit a chat room on Buell.com -- a truely thankless job, akin to cleaning the Aegean Stable --

btw, in case I've not said so of late, thanks to the regulators of THIS joynt!

I filled it out.

I asked for online parts manuals, and online part ordering.
(similar to HD's would be good, you order thru a dealer, in WI or wherever) : )

OOOH. OOOH. OOOH... Wish I had thought of that.

I had no beef buying the service manual for full retail, but was initially a little annoyed at having to buy the parts catalog just for self defense purposes (had a bad dealer at that time).

After I got it, I realized it was worth every penny, I think I used the exploded diagrams in there as often as I used the repair manual to put stuff back together.

Even if I can't actually buy online, a printable "shopping cart" with known up to date part numbers and estimated shipping times from the factory, all ready to hand over to the person at the parts counter would be a big win for everyone (except a dealer who wants to claim a part was backordered when they really never ordered it in the first place ; ) ).

online parts diagrams (like www.buykawasaki.com) and "buy online; pick up at the dealer" were among my suggestions

>>>I asked for online parts manuals, and online part ordering.

As a bit of historical perspective, Buell HAD this capability in 1998. In fact, Buell was "e-commerce" enabled and "check dealer inventory" and "schedule your oil change on line" capable long before the term e-commerce was termed.

The story of why you never knew it has more to do with politics than practicality.

The one good thing about it was that I got to ride a Buell onto the stage of the Cow Palace, speak about Buell to some real tech-heads and meet Bill Gates. (\-2"nice to meet you, I'm with Buell....who do you work for?" - Woz was dying with laughter)

The Kawasaki deal was the cat's meow. I used that on my first KLR and they "have it right" , at least as I recall from a couple years ago.

I'd look for something like this from Buell...times have changed.
