They got one up in Washington D.C. this weekend. While it's a reasonably short trip for me from Richmond, DC is a pain in the butt because of the traffic.

If you've never been to one, you should go. I'm not a real big bike enthusiast, I just like to ride a lot. You will see vendors that you didn't know existed. If you are from a small market area like I am, you'll see stuff that you didn't know about. And it's great just to talk to other serious bikers.

I really enjoyed the trials rider demo a couple of years ago.

Do you think there would be much there for vendors providing aftermarket Buell stuff?

There wasn't any at the show here in Atlanta last weekend.

It was worth it to make a day of it with friends and see all the bikes. We had a good time, we rolled up with 6 Buell's followed by 4 HOG's. Just the looks we got were worth it

Buell specific aftermarket is not well represented at these shows -- however, so many of the things one might be interested in (turn signals, headlamps, tail lamps, tools, lifts, riding gear) are non-Buell specific that I find it a great investment in time -- great deals to be had from many of the vendors, too (on a side note, stop by the Corbin booth to discover the reason for high praises for their products, low marks for custoemr service)

great time, IMnotatallhumbleO

If you're running short on eagle patches or need a new pair of leather chaps, it's the place to be!

Actually, I rather enjoy going just for the sake of breathing in of two wheeled things in the middle of winter (ours is in RoseMont/Chicago, Feb 11-13). It should be readily apparent here that I'm looking forward to going.

I can't recall if I'd seen the 9R first in a magazine or at the show, prolly the show. I don't subscribe to any moto rags. At any rate, I knew instantly what my next/new bike would be. And that's after some 15 odd years of not seeing anything that could/would put me over the edge.

Last years' show was rather interesting. You get to sit on any/all kind of bikes. I made the rounds of the metric sportbikes to find that lo and behold, they had finally narrowed the seat profiles a smidge - allowing my short legs a manageable stance. Even if I hadn't bought my XB the month before, I'd have still held out for one though. Last years Ninjas had a nice redesign, angular cuts in the bodywork. Sharp. But still they are the Trans Am of the bike market (everybody has one).

You definately go into the show with a different frame of mind once you've been exposed to Buell'ism.

Always a "go" type of deal. One never knows what one may happen across.

Timing for me this year was way off.

I'll be going to the show at Javits in NYC on Sunday Jan 23. The local HD set up a bus to take us in. I'll let you know how it goes.

Every year the one in Texas is held in DFW the weekend before Thanksgiving. Given it's about 4 1/2 hours from me and we have a trip for Thanksgiving, it normally rules it out for me. Been to one and it was pretty cool. Wish they would move that one though.

The IMS in Dallas was great - I saved my visit to the Buell booth for the end! There were so many booths with aftermarket stuff and new bikes to look at, I coulda spent 12 hours there.

Go.

I agree with the advice that if you've never been before, it's well worth going. I went to the Atlanta show in 2002 and 2003 (it's almost 300 miles from me) but I skipped the show this year. It was definitely a big rush the first time I went. It's very cool to have so many new bikes accessible in one location at one time, especially if you're in the market for a new ride.

It's definitely a good place to shop for new riding gear too.

It's well worth going, but don't drive in, take the Metro.

Go up 95 from Richmond and get to Exit 169 for 644 East (Old Keene Mill) and follow the signs for the Franconia-Springfield Metro Stop.

Parking is FREE on the weekends.

Get on the Metro there, this is the Blue line.

You'll need to switch to the yellow line, do that at any stop between King Street and the Pentagon. Once you switch, the yellow line takes you right to the Mt Vernon Square Stop, right under the Convention Center.

Have fun!

You know. That's a really good idea. The wife said she already had plans for the weekend and would take our daughter with. Monday is a holiday so I would still have a free day to get things done around the house (OK, I'm really going to spend time on the bike, but don't tell the wife.).}

The IMS show in LA was fun. Several of us Buellers went and had a good time. The Buell both is manned by volunteers from HD/Buell, as is the trailer display at the race events. One of those "volunteers" at the LA IMS show was none other than Jon Flickinger, the "new" (couple months, anyway) president of Buell. I chatted with him for 15-20 minutes, he was a real nice fellow and a pleasure to chat with. The guy that runs the IMS booth for all the shows (Eric I think was his name) was also a nice dude to talk to. It's a nice show to attend, nothing real revolutionary to see (i.e., it isn't like auto shows with lots of concept cars), it's mostly just the 05 production bikes from all the vendors in one place. It's nice to be able to sit on so many different machines back to back.

Memorable things to me:

The 05 Triumph stuff looked pretty cool.

The Ducati Monster Challenge had some way cool Monsters copetinging for peoples choice awards. Monsters for the local area near the show are dsiplayed, you get to vote on which one you like most.

The Ball of death is just crazy.

There are some good deals to be had. If you need apparel, you can get some good prices.

Honda has finally killed the XR400 in favor of the new CRF450X. Shame. I don't wan't a watercooled enduro dirt bike. I'll just have to keep my 2000 XR400 running forever (which it likely will, XR400's never die)

Of all the japanese bikes I sat on, it was the lowly Honda Superhawk that called to me the most. Most of the others are just too narrowly focused.

PC if you go, let me correct my directions a bit

You want to exit I95 at exit 169, but the roads name will be Spring Mall, not Old Keene Mill.

Go straight through the light on Spring Mall Drive all the way to the end, make a right on Frontier Drive, the Metro Stop will be right in front of you.

Rossi's M1 MotoGP bike will be there, that's enough for me!

The most fun part for me is to sit on as many bikes as I can, you can learn a lot about what bikes work best for you when you get to sit on them back to back. Confort is #1.

Getting a group from here together from Eastern NC to go Saturday. So far, 1313, and myself for sure, M2nc is thinking about it, and Southern Marine is on board but is finalizing plans.

Been years since I've been to anything like this. The last major indoor show was PRI (Performance & Racing Industry) in Cincinnati over a decade ago.

No problem!

I won't be there Saturday, only tonight

Going to a wedding for a fellow Bueller in Charleston, WV on Saturday.

You guys do the metro too, forget driving into DC the parking is expensive and not worth the hassle.

Last weekend we had the the annual "Motorcycle Supershow" near Toronto. Reportedly the most highly attended bikeshow in North America. Which has always struck me as kinda funny. Sorta like record crowds at a snowmobile show in Phoenix.... in July.

Anyhow, got a few nifty deals, though regret passing on a stunning Joe Rocket Pascall Picotte Team HD leather jacket for a killer price. I did pick up a cool T-shirt featuring four first nation aboriginals bearing arms with the declaration (in red) "Homeland Security... fighting terrorism since 1492"

Get it?

: )

All I know is I missed the show in seattle and kicking myself even more after checking the progress on the american motogp hopeful www.motoczysz.com Turns out the motoczysz prototype was there and the owner even fired it up outside for the crowd. Now I am just depressed. Don't be depressed like me go oogle the bikes.

There was an MT-01 at the local show.
It was on a pedistal so no one could sit on it.

No price, just a 'available in 2005' poster.
5 speed transmission !
90 hp (didnt say wether is rwhp or crank)

Court...Like the poster concept.

Can you imagine how much KTM could be making if they just sold posters of their "not yet ready for prime time" bikes?
