harley davidson of dallas owns two shops in the dallas area. one in garland and one in allen. a few weeks ago the garland shop told me they were going to stop selling buells. this may not have been entirely accurate. saturday i was in the allen shop. i ask the salesman if they are going to quit selling buells. he said, "quit is such a harsh word, we are still going to sell buells, we just aren't going to stock them anymore". then he ask me if i wanted to buy one. with a great sales pitch like that i almost laughed in his face. at least they will probably order parts but i think i would buy them elsewhere. i think the best buell shop near dallas is the corinth shop. at least they had four buells on the showroom floor last time i was there. really through, as long as you can order parts and get them in less than 10 days, that's not too bad. it's just kind of tough having to go into a harley shop where everyone is laughing and singing until you walk up and the dirty b word comes out of your mouth. the smile kinda goes off their face and you get this "over there s#$thead," look on their face. i just wanted to buy a t-shirt. anyone else noticed this? i recommend all buell owners buy a parts book for your model, and when you walk in or call for parts have your part numbers ready. the less time you spend in the harley shop the better you will feel if you ride a buell. also try to find a independent shop to work on you bike. they'll probably appreciate you more than most harley dealers. |

There has been a couple of HD/Buell shops like that in the central California valley for the last year or so. |

That's why I bought the parts book and hang on Badweb. Have your list of part numbers, get your parts and get out. I don't understand, or care for the Harley "biker" image or attitude and don't care to spend any more time at a HD dealer than is absolutely necessary. Had the sneer and "Oh, you own a Buell" remark once too often. Too bad there are so few GOOD Buell dealers out there. Glenn |

I'm not sure they will get away wit that for long. The loss of Buell dealers recently is due to a change in strategy by Buell and H-D that is reducing dealers in the top 52 markets in the U.S. to hopefully make the remaining dealers (Buell) stronger and more profitable. If the Dallas dealer is one of those remaining dealers then they have agreed to doing more to promote the brand and actually have to carry more vehicles, P&A, and G.M. If they're among the dealers who have elected to be phased out of the Buell brand, then they aren't a Buell dealer period and can't get bikes, parts or anything for Buells. |

Quite a while back a guy posted his experience in a HD dealership. He walked up to the parts counter where several guys were standing around. He says 'I have a Buell' the parts guy interrupts him to say 'I am soooooo sorry'. Everyone laughs, well except him. Typical of the HD attitude toward Buell. |

You could say typical of HD dealers, but I see several people here and on Sacborg who rag on Buells non stop. Why would anybody else be different. kind of makes me wonder why they even bother posting if they dislike their and others Buells so much. As far as wannabe bikers sneering at me, I ask them wanna run em. Usually shuts them up. My rider friends are all cool about different bikes. They have Hondas, chopped suzukis, BMWs triumphs (old and new) most of them have more than one bike. If any sneering gets done, we sneer at the harley riders who are so different and rebellious. The real cycle shops around here that will work on HD and buells are really cool about my Buell, just Mid Continent HD can be jerks, so I don't use them. To answer the question, when a jerk at the parts counter acts like it the post above for starters. Or tells you the part will be anywhere from 3 days to 6 months but pay up front (Message edited by Tom_b on October 27, 2004) |

I understand that Orlando HD will no longer be a Buell dealer starting first of the year. No great loss though as they were far from enthusiastic. |

Hmmm...am beginning to wonder if the new HOG/BRAG road atlas Buell dealer listings will reflect the culling of the herd. Sure could be a PITA on a road trip to get towed to the wrong dealer. |
