I don't know enough about the whole technology, but I do know that Motorola offers 'blue tooth' capable phones...a 'blue tooth' earpiece and microphone inside your helmet with the handset in the tank bag will achieve the same results without the adapter attached to your helmet. Pie. Seems dangerous. Just pull over and stop to talk. to quote another "some of the most asinine events are preceded by the words 'watch this'" looks like 'blue tooth' wireless phones and motorcycle riding... but I'm certain someone somewhere will rationalize the need and proceed. I just hope we don't have to listen to the soundtrack played with the phones video cam recording of the events... |

Thats like head phones, cb radios, chatter box thingys, mp3 players. If you feel the need for music or other company get a Bagger, Hondabago (Goldwing) or some other kind of bike - even better DRIVE YOUR CAR Aren't there enough distractions we have on the road as riders outside of those kinds. |

yeah very very tru all thats gonna do is cause a accident. i love listening to my motor reving higher and higher me shifting gears and the birds and the wind going by my helmet. i got a mp3 player that when i go on long ride ill take it but i dont always listen to it. its just if i start to fall asleep i got something to listen to. theres no reason to have to talk on a cell phone well riding. its like geeze pull off the side of the road like i do or pull into a gas station or a rest stop and make the phone call. its not worth risking your life over a phone call. |

The original poster has a job that requires him to be able to answer calls that may come at any time - which would preclude his ability to go out and enjoy a ride. I got every impression that he is a rational person and would pull over once the call was received, but he needs the ability to know that he is being called, and to be able to answer it promptly. I don't believe that anyone here, including me, would be trying to help and point out alternatives for him if we had gotten any other impression. Let the man do what it takes to be able to enjoy his ride, riding period. |

Its called stick your cell phone on vibrate and keep it close to your body like a shirt pocket, pants pocket, etc, etc, etc If you feel the phone vibrate then pull over and answer it or pull over to return the call. Most phones these days have call display as well. |

good points on the safety thing, but I gotta say, as I wander areound the board, there's folks who want to tell me how to vote, how to ride, what to ride, when to ride, what to listen to, . . . . yikes, lighten up folks -- this is supposed ot be fun, yes? |

Let the man do what it takes to be able to enjoy his ride, riding period. A voice of reason, yes, good post midknyte !! I read his original post and agree with you, I don't think he's not being rational or doesn't understand the need to be careful. CJ |

I don't think he was planing on having the conversation while riding. I think he was looking for a way to answer a call promptly while riding so that the call would not go to voice mail, then stop to have the conversation. |

My job requires me to answer a cell phone also but my phone records the incoming call # (most of the time anyway) and will take a message so I can return the call. Admittedly, it's not life and death on the cellular, but it's $$ just the same. I pull over or wait until we stop. No need to risk myself of other riders with a cell phone distraction. |

"Its called stick your cell phone on vibrate and keep it close to your body " I believe the vibration of my V-Twin engine overpowers the small battery operated vibrator in my phone....} |

I ride to get away from dealing with phone calls. For anyone who has to answer calls at anytime my advice would be to sell the bike and just sit near a phone. I know that doesn't sound like much fun but if you're gonna go for a ride don't answer the damn phone! Do we have to field phone calls 24 hours a day? |

Well I'm one who uses the cell phone patched into my Autocom system. The phone is set to auto answer and I don't make calls unless I'm stopped. It is no more distracting than a passenger talking to you in a car. And as a safety aspect or for information uses, I stop, make the call then take off, and talk while I ride. Can't you guys walk and talk? The point is, the question was asked if it's possible, YES!! Safety, it is a concern, but if your in the curves don't listen or turn the phone OFF, but for someone on call it's nice to be able to enjoy your hobby and be possible to contacted, I know I'm on call every 4th week. |

For all those that think driving and using the cell phone is bad, I have one for you. I was a helicopter pilot for a sheriff's dept. back in South Carolina. Also being the electronics guy, the chief pilot made me devise a way to patch the cell phone into the helo's intercom system! He liked to be able to handle business while we were out on patrol. Needless to say, I did a lot of flying while he talked to whomever. It did however provide great entertainment one day when his girlfriend decided to call him with a "need a bad cop" kinda phone call! And by the way.. I agree.. put the cell phone in your pocket. Sorry, I wasn't venting at the motorcycle riders. Most of which I believe have enough common sense to pull over to talk on the phone. My frustration was really meant for the cagers that spend their entire time behind the wheel on the phone and not paying attention to us riders. Granted I have 2 phones that I carry around (1 personal, 1 work) and have been seen taking a call while on the road, but I make it a point to stop when I get the call or need to make one. I've seen too many accidents caused by these little things. |

If you feel the need for music or other company get a Bagger I've got a bagger. It's called an S3T! 'Course I think the bags that were last on your bike are bigger than mine... |
