Hey ppl, just a note to say hello from the great state of rust… Oregon. I was delighted to find a web board with listers of intelligence! Up to this point all I have come across on the other sport bike sites was a bunch of A-holes. I have enjoyed reading through the posts and more than once have stayed up way past my bedtime. If all goes well I’ll be on top a ’04 12R tomorrow. I’m not new to bikes but I AM new to rockets. After 38 states, a pocket full of different cruisers and over 3 decades of riding I decided to get a “fun” scooter this time. My son rides a ’03 954 and we are planning some quality time together. So, here is a question or two… and if this should be moved to a different category, my apologies… I’m buying the bike from Destination H/D in Tigard, good ? bad? . Are there any east county Portland riders I could hook up with? Where does a fellow go for Poker run info for Or/Wa/ Nv these days??? I will also be in need of a tank bag and as gay as it might sound, saddle bags. I plan on doing some road trips where I’ll need to take some clothes, suggestions on where to purchase said items? One more thing, after my son saw what I was upto he decided to sit on the bike and check it out… I *think* his 954 is doomed to be sold LOL! Anyway, glad to be here, and if the angels smile upon me I’ll be 2 wheel bound tomorrow… whish me luck! |

welcome Junkdad! Get the tankbag and check out the sponsers ads for goodies for your XB. I have a XB9R and couldn't be happier. Just came back from the BRAG homecoming- you'll get a year membership with your bike. LOTS of fun! So hang around here there's always something to read here. |

Welcome! Check out the Storm Fronts thread and scroll down until you see the Northwest section. Lots of local ride info there and some really great people! You can also check out nwmotorcycling.com for other ride info (poker runs, bike nights, strip bar runs). I do photo work for them, maybe we can met up at one of the events. I ride a black 2001 S3T. One of the sponsors can help you out with your accessories needs or, check out Columbia Motorcycle in Vancouver, WA. If you want to buy your stuff local. Great little shop and they treat people really well. They can order ya anything you need for your new XB and they also offer a 10% discount to BRAG members which no other dealership in the Portland metro area does. Jim |

Welcome! To the dark side that is. No doubt, you'll love your scoot. Good luck in your purchase. I couldn't imagine my life without mine. The Coretech Tri-bag is really nice! Lots of room and mounts securely. That's what I'll be getting. Just a suggestion... See ya around the badweb |

Junkdad - as PDXs3t said. Oregon Brag club meets 3rd Tuesday of every month, I think, at the Cheerful Sports Page in Beaverton. Destination is a good dealership that is working to improve. Patrick in the service department is a good man, we have had our differences but he is fair. They were price leaders when I bough my XB. While you are there, tell them that Rocky is cool and that they should give him a discount on future parts purchases, don't worry you and I can split it. The sponsors of this board are top notch, if they have a product you are interested in I'm sure they will make you happy. Also, just down the street form Destinaiton is Bob's, they have an assortment of soft luggage and other generic sport bike stuff. I have rigged a tank bag from a tube frame Buell to fit the XB, if you can make it to a BRAG meeting I will demonstrate, and that may be an easy option. As a repo man in Gresham, do you know Circle Loop Towing? A good friend of mine works for them. Best of luck! |

Thanks for the welcome! Thanks for the links and info, I'll digest it all. Roc, we have a Loop Hiway towing??? I am a repo guy but I repo houses so everybody needs to pay the mortgage...or not (job security). Its alot easier to track down a non-moving object. Jim, boobies and bikes... now we're talking! I'll make one of the strip club tours I'm sure. |

Junkdad - Is your company hiring? I have experience working with foreclosures and an RE license.

Roc, Well... sorta and sorta not. All the work we do, although from 3rd partys, is government work. In a nut shell we contract with mortgage companies to break and enter (un-occupied only), change locks, bid all the debri and whatever else the house needs to put it back on the market, be it through a real estate company or court house auction. There is good money at times, other times not. I towed a '64 13 window VW bus about 3 months ago, sold it last week for $1600... that my friend was the lions share of the down payment for the Buell. I would be more than happy to discuss all that I do with you if your interested, heck... I'm always looking for extra ways to make a buck myself (since I have been self-employed since age 6...well, I go hungry a lot!). My email is max@broncofix.com. |
