it's hard to find words on occasions such as this....I've been the injured and the witness too many times.

someone tell Ted it gets better, and to stay strong.

ok I just got an update on ted

he has been moved out of ICU and into a more normal room. So we know that is good

They weren't able today to remove the tubes from his lungs just yet. hopefully soon tho.

the neck brace is off.

and the nurse told me that that ted said he felt a dull sensation when she was rubbing a hemostat on the bottom of his feet. So that is something good I am hoping

So I take this as good.

Ted friends and neighbors Terry and Karen may are going up tomorrow to see him so I will have an update from them tomorrow.
I'll be going up on sunday and that seems like forever away.

keep up the prayers

this was just posted in the cycleforums by jeff (tlstreak he just saw ted)

I just came from seeing Ted <see Bubba's post on the update above>

He wasnt in a "visiting type mood" which is very understandable. Especially from some bald headed dude that he only met once a year ago and a very short meeting at that.

Once I told him he had mail, he immediatly had a nice sparkle in his eye, and said "I wish I could get on there and tell the guys how things are going".

He is taking tonight to read the emails he has gotten so far, and will be writing a response/update to let all his online buddies know just what is going on in that head of his. Ill post it tomorrow as soon as they call and tell me its ready, and I type it out for everyone.

If you havent sent anything to Ted and thought about it. Do try and get that tonight. From what I understand he will be moving to Atlanta in the next few days. I dont know how long it will take to reorganize someone to access the email account and delevier the printed version. He said he may move as soon as Friday.

I would dare to say a deadline for me to get any emails to him will be by about 1800EST Thursday the 11th without risking them getting lost in a shuffle of Ted being transfered.

. If you sent one, and can think of something encouraging to say again, send another one. Im telling you the whole tension in the room seemed to lift when he saw what I had for him!

I got a phone call telling me Ted finished what he wanted to say. From what i understand it is brief, and had him all torn down. Apparently all the emails he got to read really hit him hard. I am sure it was in a good way. I have a crap load to take tomorrow, I actually had to go out and buy paper to print the rest. Maybe we'll be lucky and have some more before I go from the over seas crowd, since this has just recently made to an internationl harley/buell website.

I should have whatever Ted wrote up by 9pm tomorrow.

By the way Ive seen alot of responses coming off this webpage BWB......Nice Response and show of Support!

Im just the messenger of all your good deeds!

Ted had a good day yesterday.

I got a call from Carin saying that Ted was feeling better and was hoping for visitors, as he was bored out of his mind laying on his back all the time. I drove over from Asheville to Kingsport and popped into his room about 2:00 Saturday afternoon.

He had been fitted for a back brace around noontime, and so he had on his new "Ninja Turtle Shell" and was semi-sitting-up in his "Frankenstein Chair". This chair is sort of like a recliner, but with supports for his arms. This was the first time he had been off his back since the accident last Sunday, and he was happy to be out of bed. He's still too weak and tired to move his arms much and has to have others hold the phone, hold the water glass, etc.

Ted had taken his pain medication just before I arrived, so at first he was slipping in and out of LaLa Land. 30 minutes later he came out of it and was sharp and alert. He remembers the accident, and said the bike just washed out from beneath him on a left hand curve. He wasn't going at what he would consider a really fast pace, and doesn't know what caused the bike to slip out from beneath him. There was no front-end wobble. He doesn't remember hitting reflectors or sand (but we all know how insidious that sand can be). I haven't seen the curve where it happened, nor do I know if he went over the centerline and slipped on the paint stripe. I'm just guessing at this point.

He's very thankful to the other riders that were there. Like I say, I haven't seen the curve, but there are many places in these mountains where a rider could lay for days without being seen. Another good reason to ride in a pack.

I think he said he'll be transferred to the rehab canter in Atlanta on Tuesday or Wednesday, for a stay of 4-8 weeks. I brought him a bunch of magazines, a couple of paper backs, and slipped in a few Buell & ATC stickers to put on his wheel chair. (He was happy to get the stickers, but his mom and Melissa groaned when they saw them. Same for the couple of bike magazines I slipped in with the rest.) He's looking forward to rehab, has a real good attitude, and is looking forward to getting back to a real life.

As I left, we grasped hands, I patted him on the forehead (it's the only place that's not sore), and he said, "Ride safe." I told him, "Your an example for us all."
