What do you guys suggest to remove the Buell decal from a gastank? Also, anybody have the part number for a 2000 white Buell gastank decal and how much? Would it work on an older style S1 tank?

Thanks

Mike

Ok, for removing the decals, a hair dryer works well. You don't want to overheat anything, that and a little patience and they come right off.

As for the white, you'd better check with your dealer, or BuckinFubba / Daves I think they are discontinuing a bunch of the old decals. So you may not be able to pick one up new. The guys in the dealerships will what is still available.

Later,

As far as removing the old "3D" decals use dental floss as a "saw" and then some "goo-b-gone" to remove the sticky stuff. A hair dryer is risky if your not real careful!

Hair dryer is the way to go.Then you can use WD-40 to remove the sticky stuff.Or stop at any body shop and ask if they have alittle precleano to put on a rag and it will literally wipe off. Then put a coat of wax back on because anything you use to take that stuff off with will strip the wax off.

Mike,
I see you mentioned the old style tank. If you're wanting to remove the decals from it, there is no easy way because they are clear coated after they are applied.

Old Style Tank,

Take one palm sander with appropriate paper and start sanding!!!!!!

Then have a good painter to re-finish the tank.

I did my large tank for my S1 last winter and it came out real nice. I then put the 3D Decals back.
