John, I realize you arent getting paid for this & it has most likely turned into a pain in the ass, but the poster looks weird. The bikes at an angle just look odd to me, plus they are all right side views, no left sides?

I like the deal with Aarons bike on the bottom setting up the poster, but then you have a white firebolt against a white background & the bike just blends in. This is only my opinion & am just attempting to possibly give you some ideas.

Lose one of the XB's, no reason to have em both there.

The bikes I would have on there would be a blue Firebolt, Aarons bike, the RW750, red Blast, Purple S2, Red or Black S1, Nuclear blue & orange X1, & if someone can get you a picture of Johnny Mikosh's RS1200..I dont recall it might be an RSS..that would look sweet on there. Shrink the pics down just a bit so they fit better & I would lose the "Super Buell" thing, just sounds goofy. I know someone suggested it but it still sounds weird.

I would have the "aug 20, 2003 Celebrating 20 years of Buell motorcycles" in 2 columns either across the top or at the bottom of the poster & let the pics of the Buells do the talking.

I have absolutley no photo shop skills at all or I would attempt to make what I am describing. Like I said those are just some suggestions, feel completely free to use or ignore them.:D

Just some thoughts:
Buell company name transition over the years coordinated with the bikes made/manufactured under that structure.
Bads1: relax, inhale, exhale, repeat.;)
I still think a Friday B-Trax is a bit off, but hey it will be fun for those there, and me if I can swing it. Besides, this is the poster thread so forget I said anything.

What if the poster was turned horizontally? Would it be easier to fit the bikes in?

No, because then they'd all either be doing wheelies or stoppies.

Bads, what mikej says !!! We were waiting for the poster and m2me to be ready for them, like he said he's contacted Uke's and as soon as he gets a logo it will go on there !! How was I to know that today would be the day the he would post the poster here, it's changed more than once right ???

The poster will have Uke's, Hal's, American Sportbike, HC Buell, and Iowa Buell's logos on there and we are still looking for one more sponsor !!!

Dave's, please do get your logo to m2me, and thanks for your support !!!! :) I'll get with Justin about getting his logo over also !!

I think it looks a bit cluttered...make the bikes smaller and line 'em up neatly and to scale and I think it'd look perfect IMHO.

CJM,
Justin isn't at High Country anymore, he's working for Nallin's now. Hope it doesn't mean they won't sponsor the poster?
My offer is still good if you can't "find" the one more sponsor you need.

M2ME, my 2 cents, you will get this C R A P from everyone so take a deep breath.

First nice job and thanks for taking it on.

Second I would do all the bike to roughly the same size and would do themn straight.

It would be like this

o--o o--o
o--o o--o
o--o o--o
o--o o--o
o--o logos

I would drop the white XB and use the yellow one and than add an RS1200, will send photo tonight,
and I would add a X1.

This way leave the LSR bike at the bottom and drop the logos on top of the salt and mountains

Thanks again for all your work.

The poster is not finalized yet! I will place any logos that need to be on there.

Thanks everyone for the constructive ideas. I also have been thinking along some of the same lines. I think the bikes are going to have get smaller so they look less cluttered. The only photos I have are these right side ones. I tried to tilt some of them for variety but I do think they look goofy that way. I also tried purposely making them different sizes for variety and I'm not sure that works either. I am going to lose the white Firebolt (I have a blue one).

What about dropping the Super Buell XX line? I notice that nowhere else is this used. It normally is just referred to as "the Buell 20th anniversary thing".

Since the Buell Motorcycle evokes the same sort of passion from Buell enthusiasts as the Corvette does to Corvette enthusiasts, I humbly submit a couple of examples of well-done, similar time-line celebrations of an outstanding example of machinery:

I had the poster below up in my room from about age 13 until I left home!

Rock and Roll.
Tony

p.s. I agree about dropping the Super Buell XX!

M2me, I played with your latest poster image just for a couple of minutes, changing the background from white to black and blending the images slightly just to see what it would look like! I hope you don't mind!

if you DO mind, just tell me to butt-out, mind my own bees wax and just buy the friggin’ poster :]

Here's another shot at it. I have left room in the upper right for an RS1200 that Dave Gess will be sending me. The background is "cement". It looks pretty cool at actual size and resolution. But that could go. I did like the black idea from Socal. I will do a better job of cutting out the background of the bikes. Right now I'm just trying to get the size and placement right.

Dyna,
I'm not at the "pain in the ass" stage, yet. I have to admit it is taking more of my time than I thought it would. Also, you left out the M2 in your list! Don't you know that the M2 is the best motorcycle...uhh, I mean Buell, ever made?

Thats starting to look better:D

I know how these pain in the ass deals work. Have planned & lead a few rides for my HOG chapter & its amazing the amount of work & planning that I had to do to get everything to come off without a hitch. Planning both the lunch & dinner portion was consuming enough, but then you get 1 person on the ride who complains because we actually had to go thru an are that had stoplights & they might get left behind. Lots of work & little to no thanks.

Looking great! Roll the blue sky all the way up the back, fill in the white gaps so the bikes look cleanly superimposed, and while you are at it chop the license plate holder off the S1, and maybe the 9s.

Then tell me where to send my money :)

Great, I like the idea of rolling the sky up to the top. Should be pretty easy to do that. I got tied up last night and forgot the RS photo. I will get it to you tonight.

Sounds like we are thinking alike. I also thought of extending the sky all the way to the top. Haven't tried it yet. I did try a black background because I liked the Corvette poster from Socal. But the tires got completely lost and it just didn't look right. The cement does look nice at the actual size. It looks like a highway or freeway surface.

I'll try the sky idea but I'm worried about how that will look. I mean, how big is the sky? Where are we? Montana?

Now we've got a real old timer on there! I got the photos of the RS1200 today from Dave Gess. Thanks, Dave!

I worked on cutting out the bikes better and getting the RS1200 on there. I didn't spend anytime experimenting with the background. I must have over 40 hours into this poster so far! Oh well, I think it's starting to get close.

John I was kinda wondering what the poster would look like if you brought the sky up between the S1 and M2? Kinda half way up that would be enough sky and enough asphalt wouldn't it??? Just my 2 cent's but it sure looks AWESOME!!!!

Dana, yeah, that's a good idea. Just extend the sky part way up. That would like nice.

Another thing I've noticed, and I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it, is the Blast and X1 should switch places. That way the top row is really old Buells, the second row is more recent, the third row introduces the aluminum swing arm, the fourth row is the Blast and the most recent Buell and then...boom! You're loping along the salt at 200+ mph. I also might switch the sizes of the text. The "Celebrating 20 years" would be larger and the date smaller underneath.

It's getting close but it's not done yet.
