It's all your fault! I can help you with where to ride, not how you ride! I also went to this dreadful place on your recommendation. Folks, don't listen to Glitch.

everyone will have to go somewhere else to ride. Let me rephrase that. It's closed to anyone that isn't on a Buell. All bikes except Buell are banned. |

I was there as the Mazda Miatas were showing up. I could have lived without that and I wasn't even there for the weekend. I hate to think about what it must be like on a Saturday. |

I have a taste for twisties less traveled. However I am willing to share. Here's some maps of my backyard. Twisted Maps I know some roads in Western North Carolina as well. |

I know what you mean Sifo. I don't do weekends. Early spring or late fall MAYBE,...but this time of year all I can do is let all the tourists take over. I have certain days and times when I go and can ride it my way, but even then I still have to beware of the squid that doesn't know what they're doing. There are some riders/drivers that have NO business being on that stretch of 129. That's why I tell people it's closed. LOL (except to Buellers) |

Late October = leaf changing season = grandma and grandpa wanting to 'watch' = be extremely careful |

Deals Gap is not a great road for sight seeing, especially compared to the many other scenic roads that are right in the area. I'm sure it happens though. The very things that make the road fun to ride do make it very dangerous. Yes, be extremely careful. A biker died on M28 when we were there. I think he left a wife and 2 kids IIRC. No need to add to the tally. |

To the beginning of the thread: Just found an old fridge magnet- check out Two Rivers Lodge in NC. Their # is 828-488-2284. Off the beaten path, not been there, but should be a good bet for a place to stay. Did I mention Iron Horse CG? |
