My bike (2006 Uly) and I went down for my first time yesterday. Pics below.

Scenario: I was approaching a 90 degree curve at the speed limit and was slowing down to probably about 25 mph (a little over the limit for the curve). I started the turn and was just beyond the apex when down it went. It was sooo fast, I hardly had time to think. I DID manage to think "I hope that oncoming car doesn't run over my head" though.

After the dust settled and we got the bike back up (thanks to the 3 folks who stopped to help), I looked it over and then walked over to the road. There was visible liquid splashed all over the road (it felt like anti freeze). I took pictures later and in the picture after the fact, I started going down right where the left hand liquid mark crosses the center of the road. I ended up straddling the edge of the road just beyond the first yellow sign.

I broke my left footpeg and the footpeg mount, pulled out and mangled the left handlebar end and broke the mounting latch for my left saddlebag. Other than some melting and scrapes on the saddlebag, there is really no other damage to the bike. I was all geared up thankfully (many thanks to Olympia for their Airglide pants, Icon and their Superduty 2 boots and FIVE gloves for their Supermotard gloves). Other than that, I jammed my right thumb.

All in all, an unfortunate incident...but it can always be worse right (like 2 wrong-way accidents on I-95 yesterday).

Be safe.

Tim

Glad you came through it ok.... Lots of time that "stuff" is from the back of garbage trucks. That "juice" that runs out of trash trucks is slippery as hell, grease, water, and oil all mixed together. My experience with it didn;t result in a crash but i sure did get squirley and it scared the hell outta me. I was on the inside lane and would have gone right into oncoming traffic.

Glad you're ok man. I was thinking the same think about that liquid on the road. Maybe the 'bio' tank was leaking on an RV? You didn't taste it did you?

You know, I thought about tasting it, but then I thought about all the things it could be and decided against it. I manage to grab a sliver of common sense once in a while. Regardless, it was very slippery.

I think it's good that these things are discussed. Although it's an ego-buster, it's for the greater good of everyone to learn from others' experiences.

+1.

Glad to hear you're OK. Information from mishaps is great fodder for future riders.

Don't do that no more if ya can help it.
