I am always amazed that web sites actually ASK people for their birthdate and that people are simple-minded enough to provide that critical piece of info.

Hey, PM me your DOB, mother's maiden name, city/county of birth and SSN while you're at it. I PROMISE it's secure...

LOL. I had lots of friends on facebook telling me "happy birthday" on April 1st. (Get it? April 1st?)

I had to politely thank them, but tell them that if they think I am giving facebook my real birthday, they are nuts.

>>>if they think I am giving facebook my real birthday, they are nuts.

I have NEVER provided my actually birth date (not a huge secret) nor my mother's maiden name EVER.

I have no idea why but back in 1977 when I first applied for a credit card and was asked "what's your mother's maiden name?" . . I was confused by the question and simply made up a name. I've used the fictitious name consistently for 30 years.

I am aghast at what some folks put on Facebook.

I first got my SSN when at age 14, I had my first legit job. I had it IN WRITING that it was not to be used for purposes of identification and I STILL get away with insisting that College admission does NOT ID me with my SSN - and they CANNOT force me to give that info (but it raises a stink every time).

My pilot license is 2002288 - and NOT my SSN.

DOB you can see if you're carding me for alcohol... (but that hasn't happened for almost 3 decades)

People too willingly give away personal info.
