As a follow-up, the bike is blue. Were there Blue S1's? Additionally, the tail section looks like an M2. I think the story is old Ducati fodder after several beers. |

No blue S1's there were Blue X1's, M2's S3's and S2's how ever. I belive this guy is a tool and needs to have his bike privlages revoked. |

Actually Dyna, I knew you didn't look scruffy or portly, that was just my way of saying howdy. I started a business about seven months ago and it has been a time consumer to say the least. All, I recieved a rude and condescending e-mail back from the site owner this morning. He swears the story is true because the Triumph guy is a customer and told him it was true...duh. He plain doesn't like Buells or Harleys. He like Ducs Triumphs and Enfields though. Three of the most mechanically sound motorcycles on the planet. Maybe I'll post the e-mail. Is that OK to do? Somebody who runs this site, let me know. Jon |

I am pretty sure you can post what you like as if its not appropriate the Posting Police will alter the content. From what I have seen it has to be pretty bad to get taken off this site. |

I've decided not to post the guy's e-mail, out of consideration. He is welcome to come here and post though. Anyway, how bout some Triumph stories? |

For the record I wasn't suggesting any kind of "Sopranos" visit - just that I'd love to see the Trumpet guy duplicate the feat. Figured a road trip and a visit to the local dragstrip might be fun. Court's right though - if the guy just plain hates Buells and Harleys, probably nothing is going to change his mind. |

>>>>For the record I wasn't suggesting any kind of "Sopranos" visit That would be tough now...the entire neighborhoods been snagged the last 2 weeks. Since 01.01.03 the least number of mob related articles, in a given day, in the paper has been 3. Friday, you may remember the story of me being sent out to test ride the "Don's softail", another name I knew "dissppeared" along with wife and son into witness protection. All 5 familes are getting hit hard this year....read more about it HERE By the way..funny by-product.....a house about 3 blocks away has the good old "cars up on blocks in the yard" thing happening...I mean PURE trailer park. Only difference, two Rolls-Royces and one Ferrari. Remind me and I'll slip over and shoot a picture. |

Agreed on both posts. I think he swallowed a line from the Trumpet guy. By the way, somebody point me in the direction of a thorough rear fender elimination post. Thanks in advance. Jon |

You still have the X1 Jon, if so get the Banke unit. Its relatively cheap, looks damn good. I know some folks just cut theirs up with a sawzall & epoxy & silcone other crap onto the bottom, but IMHO that looks like shit. |

I'm livin on the cheap right now, so I might try the home made route first. I'll post pics as soon as I'm done. No X1 back for you yet, huh? Is that your Harley in the Buell "Garage" thread? |

Rude, I got one of the homemade chopped fenders for a S1 and it looks pretty good. I picked it up with some other parts a while back. If I get a chance I will post a pic as I do not have it on the bike yet. Court, you are living in one unique part of the woods. |

Nope. Mine has been sitting at the dealer in pieces since the Brag meet at the dragon in sept. Just waiting for the end of the deal there. Takes a while. Too damn long if you ask me. I like the new lightning, just wish it had more motor. hell the X1 has more power & that was nowhere near enough. I know you can bump it up, but for the purchase price of the bikes I would expect at peast 110hp as is. Unless Buell comes out with a major change inattitude regarding their engines & hp my next bike will probably be a triumph. |

What do you mean, "end of the deal"? I did hear from a guy at the last ASBN meeting that Buell was coming out with a 1200cc engine fro the new breed later in the year. That would be a ripper for the poor folk that purchased the new bikes. If you do get a Triumph, don't get a pink one, ok? |

Its outta my hands is what I am saying. No pink bike for me. Women at the local Triumph dealer was trying to get me to buy the "pink" speed triple they have had sitting for about 2 yrs now. Price was dirt cheap but no way am I gonna ride a pink bike & repainting is not ao option right now. Women kept calling it Nuclear red & I kept telling her nope its still pink. |

Mine is being styled after the FXDWG3. I just got my new headlight on & looks cool as hell. Stretched out unit. I gotta get down to Illinois & check with Alligator Bob about getting the seat redone. Need to stretch the front about 1 1/2" to accomodate the new tank, have no idea what thats gonna cost. Next yr I want to do the 200 rear tire kit deal & I love the looks of an open belt primary, but dont know how practical it would be on a daily rider. |

True You can get the sproket on the right side now which will help with the huge tire. I was never a fan of open primary. Looks cool till your pant leg gets pulled in. |

200 isnt that big, but its about as large as you can go on a Dyna without resorting to major surgery. the softails can go up to 230 or so, but the Dynas look weird with anything bigger than a 200 anyways. And nowdays there are quite a few great looking guards for open belts. Primo has a few, as does west coast choppers, plus with forward controls its a non issue except when sitting still ya gotta make sure & keep that left leg aways a bit. |

Just got a note from the webmaster of the anti-Buell site we were chatting about. Would you be surprised to know that he is a former Buell owner who had a very bad experience with his brand new Buell 1989 RS1200? He apparently had one calamity after another. He says it's the worse bike he has ever owned, and it probably was. Anyway, that's the rub here. Personal vendetta. Since the Triumphs, Ducs, and Enfields are apparently problem free, I would like to hear about problems with any of these bikes, either generall, specifically, but factually as well. No rumor stuff, etc. This is for our use. I am not going to use it as material for future e-mails with these poor souls. After all, I recognize that all bikes have the ability to dissappoint, but I accept them for what they are. If this seems like the time to start a new thread, so be it. Jon |

I still think it would be impossible for him to run 12.4 et on a wheelie and beat the Buell. He would have lost a considerable amount of time getting the front wheel up then stand up for the rest of the 1/4 mile on a bike that a real pro could only get a 11.88 et out of on 2 wheels. This guys name was what..... Pinocchio???? |
